This is our first time at fisherman. We usually stay at Tres Rios but the beach is not great at Tres Rios and since we are here for two weeks we decided to divide our stay between Fisherman and Tres Rios. To start, I was never advised that there were two plans at Fisherman 1- all inclusive and 2- a... More

We have stayed at Sunset Fishermen several times over the years, and all of them have been memorable experiences. If you are looking for a laid back, comfortable, but classy place to relax and play in the ocean and soak up some sun, this is the place for you! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The spa and gym... More

Seriously this resort is by far the worst we ever stayed at. From the very beginning we knew we were in trouble. Check in took almost an hour and there was only one person in front of us. The person at the front desk said we didn't have reservations yet they had our paper work right in front of him.... More

Got new and more beach chairs around the pool! Huge help not to run out of chair options. Check in process was faster this year (only an hour). Still needs to be improved. Fitness center needs 2 yoga mats, stretch cords, and lighter weights.....still too hot though! Beach coordinator for games was new this year and needs some training. Have... More

If you like it quiet and laid back, this is the place. Excellent beach, and pool, nice rooms and great service. If you are looking for lots of activities, loud parties and loads of twenty something's, this is NOT the place. It's a quiet, laid back mature group. Super friendly staff and guests. There is a limited meal selection, but... More

This was our second trip to Fisherman's. It is a small, picturesque, well-situated resort in Playacar 1, which is the small-scale "suburb" immediately south of Playa del Carmen (much lower-key than Playacar 2, which is currently constructing giant stone monolith entrances to match those sported by many of the Mayan Riviera's gargantuan resorts.) We enjoy an all-inclusive package, by virtue... More

The beach is amazing, the staff mostly excellent. There are packages you can purchase that range from no amenities to all inclusive. The only thing that was unsettling were the armed guards that occasionally took a stroll up and down the beach. Very clean. The walk into Playa Del Carmen is very pleasant. The food onsite was very good. I... More

This hotel is very beautiful. I have no complaints about the hotel, rooms, pool, or property. The food wasn't great, but we didn't go hungry. The beds were a little hard but most of them are in this areas. I liked the resort since it wasn't so huge and we didn't have to walk for a long time to get... More

My wife and I spent Thanksgiving Week 2014 at the Sunset Fisherman with another couple. The weather was good at this time - highs in the low 80's, lows around 70, and very little rain. The resort was clean and well-maintained, the service was excellent, the food and drink were good, and the location was spectacular. We had studio rooms... More

We had the good fortune of staying at Fishermens for 2weeks. During that time there were so many great staff experiences. Our restaurant hostess, Clarissa, was absolutely fabulous. Always professional, respectful and accurate with our reservations. At the same time, a great sense of humour and style, even if she can't sing!
