I stayed here in May/June whilst I was doing my diving Instructor Development Course, IDC. The Hotel Colibri has spacious rooms, is very clean, has a/c in every room and is right by the beach in the middle of where all the action is. It has a great small hotel charm that you don't get with the huge mega-resort complexes... more

Just returned from Playa last week and must preface this by saying I'm not a big hotel/motel fan anywhere and never been to Mexico before. So, if it's you're first Mexican trip, be prepared for some culture shock. Unless you're shelling out big bucks for Hotels/Motels they are on a different caliber than the US (exchange rate: 3.5 US stars... more

The hotel may abut the beach, but it's no beach hotel. There is no direct access to the beach except for an alley of sand on the side of the beach. There are no amenities like lounge chairs or drink service on the beach. The beach itself is narrow, crowded, and consists of coarse sand. The room was spartan at... more

We love the Colibri. The location is wonderful, staff is excellent, and the rooms are nice (nothing fancy, but nice). We will be there again this winter, and hope to go back many more times! more

Positive: Friendly Staff, Great location, Clean Rooms, Beach Front. Negative: Mucho noise in the morning from the sound of scuba tanks clanging on the ground...they need to put some mats on the ground to off set the loud metal clanging from the tanks early in the A.M. If you stay here bring ear plugs...much noise in the evening starting at... more

The room was clean, beautiful view, inexpensive, and quiet. The hotel is located next to the Blue Parret, but when I was sleeping, I couldn't even hear the music from the club. Right on the ocean, diving available right in front.....it was perfect! I WILL be back! more

We weren't at the Hotel Colibri for 36 hours and our room was broken into -- during the day while we were on the beach in front of the hotel. There is no daytime security at Hotel Colibri and the layout is prime for breakins. Our suitcase was cut open and our cash and travelers checks stolen in addition to... more

Colibri itself did not have live music, but the neighboring hotels did and it was very loud and very obnoxious, with a loud base that could be heard through the walls and music that started late at night and continued till early morning. Service from the front desk was slow at best; I struggled with my luggage and no one... more

Hotel Colibri has a nice relaxed atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great maid service. Security in the evenings. Awesome location..close to beach, 5th ave and ferry dock. No resturant, bar, or beach chairs....but so what....you can use the hotel directly next door facilities as long as your order a drink or two, and they have a pretty decent lunch menu..reasonable prices. Reggae... more

This is a very nice hotel right on the beach. Colibri is only one street over from 5th street. It is small and peaceful. The staff is very responsive. more
