I stayed there in July 2013 and you only get one tiny bar of soap and two towels. There is no washcloth nor hand towel. You pay an extra $10 if you want an AC unit. The TV is tiny and attached way up high on the wall. You have to pay a deposit for the room key. You also... More

I have stayed at Casa de Gopala no less than eight (8) times in the last three years. I travel to the Yucatan regularly for the cave diving and would not think of staying anywhere else. The staff is incredible, the location very centrally located so as to allow walking to all the attractions in Playa Del Carmen and the... More

It's basic no frills, but if you need something just ask and if they have it, it's yours. It's off the tourist area a few blocks, so you can get a good feel for the local life. Lots of good little restaurants around it.

Hello Travellers, We just finished a 1 month stay at Casa De Gopala for our 9th year and the beauty of this place is as much as Playa changes year afer year the Casa always stays the same. Feels like Old Mexico , super clean, amazing staff, always make you fell like family coming home. What more can I say..We... More

Very basic hotel with a nice small pool on the roof and large but basic rooms. Be advised the only toiletries you get are small bars of soap; no shampoo, lotion etc. The staff are friendly and helpful with suggestions for restaurants etc. We took the ADO bus from the Cancun airport for $12 pp and then walked to the... After spending a week in a cheaper hotel to keep the budget down, we stumbled upon this gem one night after spying it across from one of our favourite places to eat. It was a little more expensive than our previous accommodation but it was quickly apparent that the extra expensive was directly linked to better value for money. The... More

Casa de Gopala is the best home away from home, this makes year 19. Same hotel same room. Love love love Larry and the staff, central to everything. 3 blocks from the bus, 2 blocks from the best beach of the area and any restaurant is so worth it. Especially off of e 5th.

We stayed here and dived with Yukatek divers adjacent to the hotel. So easy and fun! The hotel is hidden and quiet right in the middle of town. I loved the pool on the roof top and a view to die for. We could see Cozumel, the beach and the town of Playa del Carmen. The staff is terrific. Very... More

Towels and linen changed everyday. Showers are large with good water pressure. Breakfast was included in our package choice of eggs , hot cakes, fruit plate and good coffee

I stayed at the Casa De Gopala as it was nearby to the dive shop I was diving with. This is very average accommodation. The fittings in the room were aged and the bed and shower were also aged and average. Not bad as backpacker accommodation but considering the other accommodation in the area I think better can be had.
