My wife an I traved along with a group of others. Most of the comments I would make have already been covered in the review by bj_webster. I thought that the speciality restaurants (brazillian and steak house) were a bit of a disapointment. The food in the main buffet restaurant was better I thought. As mentioend previously the hotel is... More

Stayed at several Rius before but this was the first palace. For the extra price you get premium drinks and cocktail hour entertainment in the lobby bar, drink service on the beach, and a quieter, more elegant atmosphere. That being said, we spent several days off the property doing day trips to Chichen Itza, Tulum/Xel-Ha, and Xcaret (all very nice... More

Very nice property, good location. Helpfull, friendly staff, especially Ms. Ildiko. Room - a sea facing room nice, comfortable and clean with large terrace. Nice decorated with balloons. Super minibar. Just one ice machine on each floor. Because it was raining I appreciate an umbrella in the room. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful maintained. I liked it more... More

Some of the reviews I’ve seen below are correct with what they say and some that are definitely not. What I will give you is a frank and honest opinion from a young English couple. We stayed here from April-May for 2 weeks, through Thomas cook and it was a last minute holiday as we had the time booked off... More

Let me start by saying that this is our first all inclusive. We have done cruises and traveled internationally, but we usually skip around. We were seriously disappointed. When we first walked in, the smell of mold/mildew hit us like a brick wall. The smell carried on thru the building into our room. I unpacked my luggage a day after... More

This review is a bit long in coming, having first visited the hotel in 2009, but I think our experience might be of interest to a few people looking for assurances. We first went to Playa Del Carmen in 2008, staying at the Real Gran Porto. The hotel was good, right on the beach, food wasn’t brilliant, but it was... More

Me and my new husband stayed here April-May 2012. I booked this hotel for our honeymoon after reading lots of excellent reviews in 2011 only to be extremely disappointed upon arrival. The recent reviews regarding the mouldy smell in the lobby are correct, it may not be very noticeable on first arrival but each time you open the door near... More

First, my usual review disclaimer: I am extremely picky with hotels! We had originally booked the Riu Tequila, as my friend was on a tight budget and that seemed the best bang for the buck. Upon arrival, they told us we had been given a free upgrade to the Riu Palace Mexico instead. I was suspicious, but I also knew... More

The staff and atmosphere was a bit pretentious. Everything is supposed to be very fancy but the waiters in the buffet lack basic training and they did not manage to refill our glassess with water. The most basic things of all. They were - however - very eagar to place the napkins on your lap and take a bottle out... More

We stayed here from April 22nd 2012 for two weeks for our honeymoon. First impressions are very good-check in was very quick and our luggage was taken by the bell boy to our room very quickly. The rooms are spacious with a minibar and soft drinks which are all inclusive-the rooms are also very clean. We had a courtside room... More
