Firstly a lot of people have been saying how the air conditioning wasn't working well, this is not true our room was very cool all day long especially if you combined it with the fan. My fiance feels the heat and he used to come back to the room to get out of the heat for a while. This was... more

We had a wonderful time at this resort. My husband & I have been going to Mexico for more than 10 years and have stayed at various other resorts. We definitely rank this resort in the top 3 and this resort has become our Playa Del Carmen destination. It is a small resort and easy to get around. Not more... more

Upon arriving the Riu Playacar, we were greeted by a friendly front desk worker. He was very nice and even helped break the ice with some jokes. Our room wasn't ready when we got there, so he suggested that we have some lunch while waiting. Once we were done with lunch we went back to the front desk and quickly... more

The Riu Playacar is a nice, smaller hotel. The service is great (entertainment, wait staff in the restaurants) and it has a great pool with the beach very close by. My only complaint is that the air conditioner did not work well and our room was not only warm but also very damp. I liked the hotel a lot but... more

My husband and I stayed at the Riu Playacar for 10 days in June. We've been to this resort many times and we will continue to go back. We were greeted with a tequilla sunrise as soon as we walked into the lobby. The lobby staff was very friendly and our bags were taken immediately up to our room. We... more

Stayed from 29th June 2009 for 7 nights only, staff wonderful and extremely polite and helpful (even if you didn't tip). We only ever tip on the last day! Food and hygiene fantastic and plenty to eat and drink - all inclusive. Not one for the animation teams etc but that's just us, so we tended to stay in the... more

Travel: We travelled from Glasgow airport to Cancun Airportwith thomson holidays. Luckily everything went without a hitch, no delays or anything. The only problem we had was a rowdy wedding party on our plane which was a bit testing as... more

We just got back from staying at the Riu Playacar and were very disappointed. When we arrived in the afternoon there was no one to greet us or take our luggage. Our experience in the past at other hotels were great with smiles and a welcome drink. Not here! Our room was less than average. The first night the air... more
