We stayed five days, and wanted to stay longer. The beach was gorgeous and very clean! Drinks were excellent, food was fantastic so much to chose from! We thought the room was nicE, very clean, had a real beachy feel. Overall what I liked most it was smaller didn't have to walk for miles, had that old Mexico feel to... More

We checked in on January 2, 2015. Our room was impecable, as the entire hotel was most of the time. This is an old complex with no luxury, very simple and very Mexican in its decor, so if you are looking for luxury, this is not the place, but as I mentioned before the entire facility is very clean. Unfortunately,... More

This review goes with the caveat that this was my first all inclusive in about 15 years, so some of the things I thought were great might actually be standard. Cons • No bathroom door. I’ve seen this in a couple of places, but still not a fan. Thank God there was a toilet door. • Outside of the buffet... More

Great staff, great food and great drinks. Somewhat dated rooms, but how much time do you spend there anyway? Recommend the beach at 2:00 am- fabulous stars and great view of Cozumel :)Very personable staff and more food choices than we could sample in 6 days-next trip will be10 days, and would return here in a minute.

Went for 1/14 to 1/21.all staff are awesome.this was our fifth stay at the playacar.had some power outages but we survived.enrique was great as he has been on all our stays there.only real problem was the rudeness of some of the french guests.obviously they have not caught on to the concept of waiting their turn in line.

Solve in advance the obstacle that you are about 45 minutes away from the airport, where the transportation providers create a mess. Our party of 5 people made a really good experience by arranging a prepaid service with Happy Shuttle. We took both trips nonstop with very good drivers. The location of the Riu Playacar is just ideal. Short walks... More

Went with a group of 6 adults and had a great time from 1/15-1/20/15. Entertainment staff, bartenders/wait staff and restaurant staff were awesome! Playacar is smaller than the Yucatan and less busy, but we loved that it was not very busy and less people. Bfast and Lunch buffets were good. Steak and Asian Restaurant was good. Mexican was not worth... More

Our Son and Daughter-in-Law and their children took us to Mexico for Christmas and New Year, although the trip over was long it was well worth it, the reception at the hotel was friendly, a member of staff took our suitcases to our rooms. The rooms were spacious and well taken care of during our stay. The staff in the... More

Have been to a number of all-incluives, both in Mexico and Cuba, and I very very much liked this. We were there over the New Years and I agree with previous reviewers - it was great. Stayed in building 5 on the main floor (had requested main floor as have had hip injury.) Was great. None of the rooms have... More

My husband and I stayed here over the New Year holiday. I felt the rooms were shabby but his comment was that the rooms were just old. I have to disagree with those who have said the food was awful. I actually thought the food was better than most Rius. I found everyone very nice. Maybe I got along with... More
