The hostel was in a great location, great outdoor space to hang out in (and big kitchen) but that also meant it was very loud in the evenings if you wanted to sleep. No curfew that I could tell so didn't really get any sleep. The big thing was that I got bedbugs all over my body- really nasty ones.... More

I came here back in November 2014. My boyfriend and I stayed for one night. There were drunk people shouting loudly all night. Someone unplugged our fan in the middle of the night to watch TV on their laptop. Did I mention the front desk stole my ID? Upon checkout no one return my ID, once I got to tulum... More

I stayed nearly a week with Vive La Vida in Dec 2014 and had the time of my life! The hostel was in a great location, super clean, and the staff were the best, really really helpful and friendly! Couldn't have had a better time - will be returning very soon!

If you're going to sleep on a crammed bunk bed in big dorm room, it better be with good atmosphere and company. And that's what Vive la Vida hostel offers. Beautiful artwork on the walls, well arranged space, giant kitchen, very functional and clean. Surprisingly, even the beds were bigger than normal, bright white sheets, lockers in each room as... I stayed two nights with a couple of friends and it was great. A really friendly hostel with great staff and facilities- really hit showers were a bonus and a great location just 5 mins from beach! I would stay here again without a doubt!

To be brief. Rooms: 8 beds and a bit too cramped. Beds: fine, the mattress was wrapped in foil, I assume because of bedbugs(which is common, and this showed they were doing something about it) Showers & Toilets: Clean!Fine (For the money you pay). Kitchen and reception: Nice, clean and !!!!good music, not the electro crap ;-), but I guess... More

We stayed here for three nights. We had a private room with no windows. The a/c had to be switched on by the owner each night, which he forgot to do the first night and so it was very hot and sticky. He did get it sorted the rest of the nights though. Good and clean kitchen and bathroom facilities.... More

Had an awesome time here - it is a little far from the main street, but for the price, it is incredible. I didn't really mind the walk at all and to be honest it is quite nice to be away from the hustle and bustle of the main street, La Quinta. There were some fantastic food places near Hostel... More

Thought this was a great hostel for the price. The guy at reception, too, was a really good guy. He sat with us for several hours and brought us a little tequila he had. He has excellent taste in music, too. Anyway, the hostel is clean, has good facilities, and has good people. Only complaint is that it can be... More
