We were at the GPR rom July 10-July 17 and absolutely loved our experience. This was our first time at an all-inclusive so were a bit apprehensive at first. Wow, we had a wonderful time at this resort. We stayed 7 nights over the Thanksgiving 07 holiday and it was very nice. We had a one-week all-inclusive stay at the Gran Porto and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our junior suite (street side) was very spacious and nicely decorated (pls note I'm a guy with low interior design standards...). What a fantastic surprise!!!!!!!! We were staying in Playa as we had signed up to take Espanol classes. The school booked us at what they thought to be a nice hotel...Uhm, no, it was so miserable. Just got back on 7/6/08 and wanted to give my thoughts. Rooms: FANTASTIC! We upgrade to a beach walkout. With this room you get a reserved palapas. Some people said there would be some obstructions due to the palapas right in front. We didn't find that to be an issue. You could still see the ocean and with the shrubs... more

Pros: Beautiful hotel right on the beach, beautiful rooms, friendly service, cable in room, very convenient location (right around the corner from the 5th Avenue shopping district), ice cold air conditioning in rooms, open-air common areas, and VIP lounge. What I liked: The people working at the resort are awesome, very nice and super friendly. The entertainment staff especially is our favorite: Julio (a wonderful guide for our bike tour); Hector & Chicken Little both are super nice and energetic; Mercy, Liz and Flor who run the Kids' Play Room are so sweet and patient with the children. Our 10 day stay with a family of 12 could not have been better. The staff was eager to meet every need. The young children looked forward to visiting the kids club, the older children were made to feel so important by the recreation crew, and the adults were made comfortable in everyway.
