This hotel was torn down last year to make room for a casino. It should no longer be listed. If you book, they will put you at the Mosquito Beach hotel, which sucks. BTW, putting a casino in PDC is one of the stupidest ideas I've ever heard. Everyone goes to PDC to get away from casinos.

The Mosquito Blue Hotel is charming and is centrally located in Playa del Carmen on Fifth Avenue. It's sister hotel, The Mosquito Beach, has beach access and is an easy to reach. If you want beach access but quiet and close to all the clubs, shopping and restaurants, Excellent staff that is always helpful and available. Mosquito Beach is the... More

The hotel is now closed and is being demolished as is everything from 12th to 14th street on 5th including Calle Corazon . (will bevery noise and dirty here) A large mall will replace everything. There is a new American looking mall just opening a couple blocks nod some rth from here. This area is very noisy to stay as... More

This is a really sexy & fun hotel in great location with a good vibe.. It has so much potential but falls short.. Will start w SAFETY HAZARD.. A lot of the doors have a 2 inch bottom lip that's easy to trip or stub toe.. Also, the beautiful walk way throughout is uneven to walk on.. BE CAREFUL!!! Wifi... More

Have stayed here many times. That says it all but there's a 200 character limit, so I will embellish. It's been a few years is my only caveat but each time we stayed here, the experience was good. Centrally located, good staff, reasonable pricing, nice rooms, nice grounds, easy to use as a base to explore PDC and the surrounding... More

Looks like this hotel had it´s best time, CONS: my deluxe room had only one electricity outlet in the restroom, noisy wood bed frame, had to ask for shampoo/conditioner because they forgot to supply, very, very noisy air conditioning, the rooms don´t have additional security lock and my door was opened twice by mistake (by hotel employees). You can see... More

It used to be a boutique hotel. I have been to this Hotel several times but this time the quality and maintenance of the Hotel has diminished greatly. The palapa where coffee is served has several holes and everything is wet including the sitting areas. The cushions are old and stained and they are obviously not garden furniture or have... More

The hotel is very nice and clean. It is in a very good location. Close to the beach and in the center of the nightlife. The staff did not communicate all of the hotel amenities though. I also like to sleep in a cold room under a nice blanket but the room did not come with one. Had to ask... More

My stay at Mosquito Blue was kind of unusual - I was booked at another resort, but, because of a reservation snafu, I did not get a double occupancy that I'd requested - and I was NOT travelling with my husband, but instead, with my best friend. I needed a real bed, and quick - I called Mosquito Blue and... More

My boyfriend and I stayed a week in Playa del Carmen. Mosquito Blue Hotel is located in the center of the main strip of hotels, clubs, restaurants and bars. It is a small, but cozy and beautiful hotel. The service is outstanding. Everybody speaks English and are very welcoming. I read reviews before booking in this hotel, and I thought... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Mosquito Blue Hotel & Spa is Playa del Carmen’s first luxury boutique hotel located in the heart of 5th Avenue amid Playa’s many shops, bars and restaurants. This intimate two-story, adults-only hotel offers two pools surrounded by lush landscaped gardens and chaise lounges, open-air gourmet dining and lounge area. Mosquito Blue Hotel’s design elements stand out with its mix of contemporary European style and tropical Caribbean colors, created and designed by its Italian owner. The décor is tropical chic, a mixture of modern elegance with casual tropical living. The curving pools are surrounded with subtle lighting hidden among the tropical plants and winding paths to help achieve the mood. The center-piece is the palapa-thatched two story open-air ‘tent’ with a sofa and cushions below, and a billiard table above. In the upper sitting area, guests enjoy a complimentary petit dejeuner in the morning of tea, coffee and fruit. Padded seats carved into the stone create a convivial meeting spot. Just three blocks away is Mosquito Blue’s beachfront sister hotel, where guests can enjoy a private beach club with day beds, lounge chairs, towels, food and wait-staff. Mosquito Blue Restaurant and Lounge has been a trendsetter in Playa del Carmen, unequaled in quality and sophistication of both its menu and design. When it opened in 2003, the restaurant became the first in Playa to offer a chic gourmet dining experience on the popular 5th Avenue, in the heart of Playa del Carmen’s tourism district. A team of Italian chefs transforms ingredients from the Mexican Caribbean kitchen into a delicious Mediterranean Italian culinary experience. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Full bar with emphasis on wine, both by the bottle and glass. Enjoy a superb collection of Italian wines carefully imported just for Mosquito Restaurants. Open for dinner; no reservations required from 6 pm-12pm. The 45 air-conditioned guestrooms are spacious and intimate, modern and ethnic. They feature hand-crafted mahogany beds, arching doorways, artisan coffee tables and modern accessories. All have cable television and high-speed Internet access. ... more   less
