If you wanna party, meet new people and have a bar with crazy bartenders for preparty right outside your room. This is the place to be! We were supposed to stay for 2 night and ended up with 7 nights and 6 of them with crazy party! A big pluss with breakfast included and that you are in the centre... More

I know Playa is a strange place during BPM but I figured any hostel would allow you to chill out somehow at some time of the night. It was always loud (not the hostel's fault) from bars nearby and the only option other than your room to relax was at the bar which again is not exactly a relaxing place.... More

I came to rio playa hostel in the very beginning of my central america trip. I felt comfortable from the first minute on, when I met andrea at the reservation! She is a very nice, outgoing and open minded person and showed me around the place. At night the guests meet at the bar area which is on top of... More

We stayed here last year for 3 nights - 3 nights too long if you ask me. Staying in a crammed 6 bed dorm (20 bed ones looked nicer) with no A/C, sleeping became wishful thinking as we were conveniently positioned on top of a nightclub. Toilets were gross and you always had to line up. Breakfast was probably the... More

Very nice hostel close to everything in Playa. Easy to get to from Cancun airport via ADO bus. We would stay here again. Room, bathroom, and commons are VERY clean. Very nice and thoughtful breakfast. Marcelo helped us find Kite Mex kite boarding school. Thanks Hostel Rio!

Surprised to read some bad reviews here- I stayed here for 4 nights while in Playa del Carmen. Having stayed at 2 other hostels here aswel-, I think this is the best one. I really loved the atmosphere. Its definitely a party hostel with Ladies night (free drinks) at the bar every night for 1 hour. They have free BBQs... More

We enjoyed our stay here thanks to the staff and the other people staying at the same time as us. A fun place to go out from as everynight ladies drink for free between 10 and 11pm and we would go to a different club each night. We ate out for every meal and the free breakfast was not really... Really fun people with great chilled part vibe. We did expect a rooftop pool which turned out to be 20cm of water! Room was a bit expensive for the small space - out curtains were literally sheets pinned to the window frame - so felt very budget, but AC was good. Noisy twin room right next to the bar, limited...
