I don't know if it's all the straw umbrellas on the beach or what but once you are inside the resort it is very nice. Feels like a tropical paradise kind of thing. The beach is so nice at this hotel and the rooms are adorable.I really liked their breakfast's. Get the poached eggs. The mall is something like a... more

My husband and I just returned from a 4 night vacation to the Shangri-la Caribe. As the George Strait lyrics go....We had our own "ocean front property...." We truly felt like we were in our own private paradise. We stayed in a charming, authentic mexican beach front cabana that was about 50 feet from the ocean. The front of our... more

It's hard to find a cool place to stay where the birds wake you up singing outside your adorable private palapa hut, complete with front porch and hammocks. Walk out the door to the beach, no elevator hassle, beautiful landscaped gardens, great food and service; plus they make swan, elephant, and unique animal designs out of your towels, decorate them... more

Neat place! Some things were really good about this place; others really not so much. We traveled there during Easter week, April 9-16. The weather was nice; Playa was more crowded than my first time in Sept '07 and I probably wouldn't go during a holiday time again. BEACH: The beachfront location is very nice, plenty of chairs and palapas... more

Okay, this was my 3rd visit to Shangri la Caribe and we were under the impression it was the last year. My family was very sad...we found out that the hotel and the STAFF have committed to 3 more years AS IS!!!! Now if you have never been- here is what you can expect. The most lovely staff, in the... more

Shangri-la will be open for two more years with most of the old staff and attmosphere. We've been there for years and look forward to at least two more. Owners tells us it is to be freshened up, a few new things, but the same atmosphere. more

We got back yesterday from a six day stay. Our first impression was not so good. We payed 455.00 a night for an ocean view room. We were brought to a room with a slight glimpse of the water but more of the back of another hut/room. The layout of the property is that of a village of small huts... more

We recently stayed here for 6 nights in a beachfront bungalow in Adventura section. Location was wonderful. Seemed more private than other rooms. Great front porch with two hammocks. Rooms are a bit basic but very clean and ample room with sitting area and seperate bathroom with shower and double sinks. Great windows with shutters which allows great ocean breeze... more

We stayed 10 nights at the Shangri-La Caribe at the end of March. We booked an Aventura ocean view room and were very happy to get one of the bungalows almost right on the beach. The bungalow was a bit rustic and could use a remodel for sure. Bits of the thatched roof fall down, a few bugs get in... more
