The resort itself is lovely and the staff is very friendly and attentive. The pools aren't huge but they are a good size and weren't overcrowded when we were there. We never had trouble finding loungers on the beach and security patrolled regularly to make sure only guests of the resort were in the Mahekal beach area. Breakfast and either... More

Our 5 day stay was entirely enjoyable. The 2 rooms were charming, clean, with cool a/c and no tv or telephones to be distracted by. The coffee room service (optional) every morning was prompt. The meals were delicious with lots of variety everyday. Nature dumped a fair amount of seaweed a couple of days and the hotel staff tried to... More

In terms of young kids at this place, there is a second pool that starts off very shallow. It's perfect for hanging out but it's rather cloudy and probably filled with urine. There is a little convenience market right at the corner which is great for grabbing whatever you might have forgotten but the hotel provides bottle water every day... More

My husband and I stayed here in March of this year with our 3 month old son. We upgraded to a beachfront cabana (#3) with a plunge pool, and we're so glad we did that. The view was incredible. It was so convenient for us to be right on the beach without having to leave our room with our little... More

We had a great quick visit to this hotel last April - the pool was beautiful and the food at the restaurants tasty. It's just a bit removed from the center of town, but there are restaurants and cafes close by. Would definitely return.

I wanted to love this hotel, as the pictures and the reviews held up a very high standard. I do feel like our stay is between three and four stars, but a few things kept me from giving it four. That's why I'm honestly conflicted about this review but feel there are things people should know before booking their stay.... More

When my friend and I were looking for somewhere to stay in Playa del Carmen we knew we did not want a huge all-inclusive resort. We didn't want to have to taxi or shuttle to check out the town. We found Mahekal on TripAdvisor, and chose it for it's location on the beach and near 5th Ave. Our room (Ocean... More

We just come back from our 10 days stay in Mahekal. The experience was close to perfection: staff was incredibly nice and helpful, room was very nice, food was varied (alternating menu a la carte or buffet) and fresh. It is ideally placed, few meters to the 5th avenue, and on the beach. It is not to big and not... More

We just spent two days with my daughters at Mahekal. I loved the size of the resort- small. The rooms were great even though simple ( no tv or phone). We had a ocean view room on the second floor of the little houses. The staff in this resort are exceptionally kind and helpful. The concierge Bolli organized great day... More
