This is a small scale hotel with a superb beachfront location, with little cabanas right at the beach and two modest pools. Arts and craft activities, and a great play room with ping pong and pool billiard, where our kids met plenty of other kids to play with. Hotel includes breakfast and either lunch or dinner. Breakfast has a good... More

Our rooms were right on the beach, friendly Manuel could deliver drinks and food all day long. All staff were friendly, and happy to be there. Food was great - although we would have liked to have seen some authentic mexican in there every night. Live music in the bar was awesome - my younger brother loved the pool tables/ping... More

My partner and I stayed here in November last year for our wedding, and loved it! They had organised a beautiful flower decoration on the bed on our arrival ant the staff went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly on the day. Our room was a penthouse overlooking the ocean and pool area, with a sunbed and... More

Best place in PDC. Since I've discovered Mahekal, I can't imagine staying anywhere else. If you're looking for big resort-style, all-inclusive hotels, this is not it. This place retains some old-time charm, it's not only ON THE BEACH, but the best beach in PDC in my opinion. Rooms are basic, no frills, but comfortable. It's on the northern end of... More

it's difficult in this day of overdone hotels to find a property on the beach which still retains the wonderful charm of old Mexico, but still is clean, well run, and comfortable. The location can't be beat, right on a coral sand beach with the warm, clear Caribbean in front, and the unspoiled town just outside the entrance. The staff... More

A beautiful setting and comfortable palapas make for a comfortable stay, no doubt. And I understand they are renovating some rooms, so I'm sure the property is going to be even nicer. Manuel runs drinks and food, seemingly to every corner of the property. A great guy and an amazingly hard worker. The ladies in the spa are also wonderful.... More

Dear Guest, thank you for sharing your experience with us. We are obviously upset that we could not fulfil your expectations, and I would like to answer all your concerns. I understand that it might be uncomfortable for you to carry your towels each day from the beach to the reception desk, so we are considering adding a towel station... More

The hotel is very nice and probably has one of the best beaches around the area. Room are quite spacious and clean. Breakfast is good but lunch and dinner can be at time average. Service is perfect and very friendly staff. One thing we were not happy with is that on the last day we have been asked to pay... More

Thank you for your comments. The beach of our resort indeed is the best in Playa del Carmen, with its extensive size, clean sand, turquoise water and comfortable sunbeds. We do receive very good feedback on our staff and we are really proud of them, as they are the ones that can really make the difference. I am sorry that... More

We had an amazing experience at the Mahekal. Fantastic. Arrived with several in our respective families for an on-the-beach wedding ceremony. We may have had 40 of us staying in the hotel; it was perfect for the gathering. Several other returning families were there, too, with their children. It's a great place for families and children--perfect level of child-friendly and... More

Mahekal Beach Resort lived up to its website....lovely tropical grounds, comfortable, clean and roomy, traditionally-styled Mexican palapas; excellent dining rooms with very good selection of regional and popular specialties; helpful staff; and great location on a well-tended beach...and five minute walk to 5th Avenue (shops, bars, restaurants). Room rate includes two meals per day....with great selections. We would definitely stay... More

The Mahékal Beach Resort is a legendary resort village located on 800 feet of white sand beach in the heart of vibrant Playa del Carmen. It has 121 thatched roof, palapa-style bungalows within steps of Fifth Avenue, the celebrated entertainment, shopping, and restaurant district of Playa del Carmen. The thousands of loyal repeat guests at Mahékal Beach Resort describe it as magical, memorable, and authentically Yucatecan. Our guests love the fact that we have never compromised our truly unique ambiance and style. In keeping with that style, our rooms do not offer television, radios or telephones.
