Booked on booking.com and were advised that this hotel took American Express. When we arrived there was an American express sticker on the front door and when we went to pay they say they don't take American Express (which is all we brought). They told us to go to the arm and get cash??? I then got my daughter to... More

Only three blocks away from beach and two from bustling Avenida Quinta. So you´re close by but miss the noise - unless hostel next block or Carnaval Days let the beds vibe ... Clean, well kept, friendly staff.

Just off the main strip, next to everything, clean, quiet, well decorated for a simple, yet comfortable stay. WIFI, Cable, A/C, friendly and accomodating staff. Little storage if you need it. Often budget hotels are shabby and kind of depressing but there is a pretty central garden, modern rooms.

We came to Playa del Carmen to look for a hotel during the day of our arrival. We've found Sahara Hotel and we really enjoyed it! The room was cleaned every day, the owners were excellent and helpful. We do recommend it :) PS. Try tacos in those restaurants right behind the hotel! A m a z i n g... More

our friend Shaun who drove us there from Corozal recommended it as he and his wife have stayed there before. Although basic and not very big room, was perfectly fine for one night. Well situated and was clean. Only negatives for us were that ceiling fan very noisy - we prefer not to use AC unless absolutely necessary and it... More

The Sahara Hotel was an all right hotel experience. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean as well as the reso of the room, the air conditioner worked well, and the cleaning was good. However, due to a lot of added taxes as well as high unofficial exchange rate from dollars to pesos, our 3-night stay ended up costing... More

This is a hotel with a great location, off the strip but yet only a few blocks to get there, close to the bus terminal, nice plaza across the street. We don't always stay there, but when we do, it is clean and friendly.

Spend a week here. Very friendly and helpful service at the reception. Good location. Room was not in a perfect condition: fan looked like it's gonna fall any minute, curtains were torn up and hot water was bit of an issue. Minor things that could be easy to fix, though. Altogether a place worth the visit 'specially if your on... More

Rates were lower than some, but this isn't a budget hotel. It's a back street, low quality, low service motel lacking basic expectations like a hot shower. We literally were only able to get a hot shower 4 of the 7 days we were there and even then, the water pressure was a trickle. Dont expect hot water in the... More

My husband and I arrived to Playa in the evening looking for a hotel. It was a busy time of the year and many of the hotels were already full. The Sahara claimed to have only "1 room left" and charged us a whopping $220. They totally took advantage and charged an exuberant rate. At that ridiculous price you would... More
