Picked this hotel after reading that the owner, Alex, makes croissants for breakfast each morning--he had me at croissants--but they were only the beginning of the list of reasons this was a good choice. Merida is huge and can be quiet noisy in the center of town. Hotel Julamis is in a quiet neighborhood with less traffic, but still within... More

We arrived at the Hotel Julamis at midnight Christmas night (later than expected) and were still welcomed warmly by Alex. The hotel is beautiful; the courtyard inviting and the roof deck magnificent, especially at sundown and tequila time. However, the next 4 days were really a testament to Alex’s skills in the kitchen (gourmet breakfasts differing daily but always fabulous... More

This small hotel on a quiet street is in a lovely building and reflects the personality of owner Alex Rudin, who attracts a clientele of regulars, offers tips and insights on the city and whips up fabulous breakfasts. The rooms are simple but airy and comfortable. One caveat: It's a bit off the beaten track in an area that can... More

We stayed in the Villa Julamis attached to the main hotel. Unfortunately, we were unable to advise Alex of our arrival time and when we got there, the place was locked up and looked closed. A small panic later and Alex arrived full of bonamie and helpful information. The rooms were large, airy and comfortable, with a private outdoor seating... More

Hotel Julamis is a charming small hotel in a great location in Merida. Alex makes you feel like you're a visitor in his home and has a lot of great suggestions. He's also a chef, and the breakfasts each morning were the best we've had anywhere. The room was impeccably clean and beautiful, and the wifi worked consistently. The extras... More

This is a quaint homey villa type hotel. Old world charm. We enjoyed the charm and atmosphere of the building. Some rooms had original tile from 225 years ago. Old stone wall in courtyard, ironwork over the doors and windows. The owner has tried to maintain the building in the best way possible. Keeping the traditional style while doing needed... More

We loved this hotel, and have already recommended it to others. The hotel is located on a fairly quite corner just a short walk from the beautiful colonial part of town, and also not far from the bus station, so the location was very nice. The room we stayed in was large and clean and had great wifi service. It's... More

My wife and I stayed here for 9 days total. We loved it! It is in a great location (El Centro) and walking distance to excellent restaurants and shopping. The hotel owner is a great guy with a lot of valuable info about the area, places to see and places to eat. Speaking of eating, did I mention that it's... More

Alex presides over this lovely oasis in downtown Merida. Hotel Julamis is a small, delightful boutique hotel that has the feel of a Moroccan riad with a courtyard and rooftop garden that affords a vista of the city center --- the "fun parts" of this colonial city. I could 'go birding' on the rooftop each morning & evening. Alex is... More

A charming boutique hotel centrally located in Merida! We arrived by bus in Merida and walked to the hotel, so got to take in the chaos that exists along certain streets there. It has to be said, Alex (the hotel's manager) appears to have very carefully chosen the location of this hotel to be close to everything - but its... More
