... if you're into old-style, characterful, slightly dilapidated traveller's digs. Hotel Trinidad (not its sister property 'Trinidad Galeria') is in the heart of Mérida's old town in a rambling old building with two lovely and very atmospheric courtyards filled with beautiful tropical plants and, apparently, a possum. There are spacious, cozy common areas, a pool table, cushions, sofas, artsy murals... More

If this place could be rated on staff friendliness and service alone it would get very good ratings. We had read all the reviews and focussed on the bad (of course) and when we arrived we asked to see another room as the first one was near to the breakfast bar. We paid a little more for a room on... Our backpacking company booked us into this hotel. It's faded grandeur which all very lovely except the basics like hot water don't come with the room. We had a large split level room at the back with a fridge, looked like a family room, with a large TV. The bathroom was very ostentatious but as mentioned the water was a... More

We liked this hotel a lot. You are not paying a 5* hotel so don't expect that either. Even if it is old, eh ..not that old, just isn't tiptop, that is its charm. The courtyard is just relaxing, just put some mosquito repellent on you if you stay longer. If you are on a backpacker trip, it is a... More

A cheap hotel with the advantage of a good position and a kind owner. The aspect is not appealing, it is old fashioned and lacks maintenance, rooms are basic, pretty dark and old, the air conditioner is very noisy and so is the fan which works with only one speed. The temperature in the room is hardly bearable. However the... More

For some reason one can't avoid the enormous amounts of mosquitoes that abound this property ...rooms and courtyard too. Maybe they should remove the stagnant fountain waters but it clearly doesn't bother the owners. I had to buy bug spray just for my room and avoid all common areas. And yeah TV is lousy too. Doesn't work and good luck... More

Even though we live here on the beach we love staying overnight at either of the two hotels located in central Merida. They are both a little funky with the art collections amassed by the previous owner. Breakfast is continental. As with any place in Mexico you need to actually SEE your room and check it out before you register.... More

Great location, but so are many other hostels. We arrived very early in the morning by nightbus, and got a room straight away, with no extra expenses. Which was very nice. We had shared bathrooms and shower. The shower only had a curtain between, and was dirty. The toilets door was so short, you could actually look down on the... More

Aside from being a couple of streets from the center (which in Merida we found to be quite boring),and the fact that it offered tours to Celastun and chichan itza (Pardon my spelling), hotel Trinidad proved to be a bad place to stay. The bed was metal springs covered with linen (the floor would have been better for me) which... More
