I had the pleasure of staying at the Luz with a work group and it could not have been a better experience! The hotel is so charming and very centrally located. When you walk in the door it is amazing what is behind such an unassuming facade. The Luz is truly a sanctuary right in the middle of the city.... More

The Casa de Luz is heaven on earth. Our 3 night stay was too short and we wish we had more time to spend in that house. The location was wonderful, the private pool heavenly, the house very clean, the service friendly and impeccable. Everything clicked here. Well done Donard and staff!

We spent 7 nights in Luz en Yucatan in July 2015, 5 nights before and 2 nights after our roundtrip through the south of Mexico. Luz is the perfect place to stay in Merida. Very close to the city center, possibilty to park the car safe... and returning from the hot and busy city once you close the door behind... More

We doubted the hotel could live up to its great reputation - but it did! Our family of 4 spent 2 nights in the Palacio room. It was a large room with 2 Queen beds and a full kitchen including our own drinking water fountain. We had our own terrace with table and hammock overlooking the pool. There are countless... More

Luz en Yucatan is ideally located, 4 blocks from the main square and meters from several good restaurants. It offers large comfortable apartments, including hammocks and sitting on private terraces, cosy lobby spaces and a beautiful walled swimming pool area that makes you completely forget that you are in the center of a million inhabitants city. The staff is friendly... More

I've stayed at Luz en Yucatan twice in the past 3 years, each time for a couple nights. It is a wonderful place, located in the heart of Merida's old Centro district, within easy walking range of many fantastic, family-friendly, and very affordable restaurants. Luz used to be a convent. The American ex-pat owner, Tom, has done a beautiful job... More

Tucked away in back of the Santa Lucia church is a unique and quiet place to rest after a day of site-seeing. It can get quite hot in Merida, and this hotel is cool and comfortable. There are places in the shade as well as a small pool. All the rooms are air conditioned; sleeping was never a problem. We... More

We arrived at Luz En Yucatan late in the evening after a long journey from Cozumel, to an extremely warm welcome. The hotel and pool area is beautiful, tucked away behind the streets of Merida. Complimentary beers in the our room, about a gallon of water, and help yourself to spirits in the hotel lobby hallway. A very generous, homely,... More

This was a good choice for a one night stay to get to Palenque. We had two queen beds but one had a saggy mattress. We had a refrigerator and bottled water which was nice. Small pool. Common rooms were beautiful. Attendant helpful, ordered pizza for us to be delivered. Cash only.

This hotel is well located but didn't live up to its reviews. The rooms are not 'charming' or even well or middling well decorated. As I recall, there were totally mismatched bedspreads on the beds, for example. The kitchen in the room was welcome but sparsely outfitted with kitchenware so we didn't use it much. The pool area is nice.... More
