Luz en Yucatan is truly a delight. We did a mini tour of the Yucatan Peninsula and had our best night's sleep at Luz. The beds were scrumptious, our huge room was modern with gorgeous bath fixtures, an awesome shower, all in a colonial setting and very quiet. Two cold beers in the fridge after a drive into town from... more

I had high expectations of Luz, and I was blown away still. Everything about this centuries-old building is special, including the wonderful people who run it. The rooms are gorgeous with beautiful tiling, cool polished cement, AC and fans, awesome ironwork, beautiful woodwork and shutters, balconies, the best hammocks I have seen, the room we stayed in had a kitchenette,... more

This small hotel, sited in a former convent, is just the casual, quiet oasis that many travelers seek. The staff work with guests to make the stay very pleasant. The hotel rooms are focused towards the center atrium. We especially liked the penthouse with a roof deck and views of the city. The first floor rooms (where we spent the... more

Great value for this quiet and laid-back hotel. Ideal location in Merida, within easy walking distance of the town center. The friendly hotel owner is readily available and recommended a couple of day trips to Uxmal and Celestun that were great. Definitely ask his advice for the best cenotes to check out. Our room was open and airy, and included... more

My wife and I undertook a tour of the Yucatan during late March Early April this year, we flew into cancun and stayed the first 2 nights locally - 'Cancun Terracaribe', before moving onto Merida. Prior to the trip we made contact with Luz en Yucatan by email and booked a room for two nights. Immediate reply confirming our room.... more

We stayed here for a couple of nights at the end of our trip to the Yucatan. We could not have picked a better spot than Luz en Yucatan. The room we stayed in couldn't have been more perfect. It was cool even without the air conditioning (which worked perfect), very large with a comfortable bed and a very nice... more

We stayed here at the end of our 3 week trip to the Yucatan for a couple of nights. We regret not being able to stay longer. The owners were very helpful and friendly. Suggestions for restaurants etc were spot on. The room was great - clean and the bed was very comfortable. We particularly liked the little patio area... more

Great beds, good linens, towels, tv in spanish english movies, good air conditioner, 20 L water container with purified water, perfect location near main square and park and many restaurants. Stayed 16 days and Tom and Donard could not be more helpful. Friends staying at Marionetta had terrible service, grumpy owner when he was there which was seldom and not very helpful.... more

Luz in yucatan is worth a visit to Merida in itself. Not only is there free coffee and water in the room but there is a mini bar with free tequila in the hallway! Who could ask for more. The owner Donal was super friendly and provided excellent advice. The pool area is a fantastic haven after the hot and... more

We have returned home from a great week in the Yucatan. We loved the beaches in Tulum and Cancun, but our favorite stay was Merida. We spent four nights in this beautiful city. There are friendly people, historic sites, festivals and good restaurants. Right within walking distance of everything is the Luz En Yucatan. This small hotel has everything you... more
