Amazing sprawling property on the edge of Merida. Have been 3 times, each time was outstanding. The property is a former sisal plantation on the northern outskirts of Merida brought back to life with loving care. We had a suite with a large natural stone bathtub(large jacuuzi sized) in a bathroom the size of a standard hotel room. The furnishings... More

We were recommended to visit this place because of our love of gardening. If you ask, they will happily let any visitors take a private tour of the exquisite gardens. There is no fee, but of course tipping is greatly appreciated. Our guide did not speak English, but I was able to understand most of what he said with my... More

Thank you for your review, Mr. B. We take great pride in our gardens. All endemic species are indicated, both in Maya and scientific nomenclature. In fact, we started on the gardens before we started the reconstruction! The project took 5 years to complete, so when we finished, it looked like the gardens had been there forever. Please visit us... More

The place is amazing. More than a century old, carefully renovated hacienda in a wonderful garden; I suppose some of the buildings are new, but it does not matter. We arrived in the evening and were taken through this magical garden to one of the best rooms I have ever stayed in: spacious, tastefully furnished, with a big veranda outside... More

Thank you for your kind and thorough review, Lucja, we are pleased that you enjoyed our Hacienda. We are in the process of installing more wifi antenas, and also have repeaters that can be requested in Reception. The mosquito issue surprises me, since we fumigate with pyrethrums (nontoxic to humans) every day. I will have the maintenance department look into... More

Beautiful hacienda. Very well appointed and clean. Feeling of calm and old colonial Mexico. Located in a small local town with nothing within walking. Must rent a car to get around. Service in restaurant was the best it could be with a limited number of waiters. They worked super hard. Would recommend to the management to hire more people during... More

What a unique and phenomenal paradise! Our expectations were exceeded in every way but when you dine here be wary of the habanero peppers! Truly incredible experience! Lovely rooms, the bathrooms make you say, "Wow" and spa along with grounds are beautiful.

Xcanatun is a beautiful hacienda and the restaurant sits on the building where the machinery for henequen production used to be housed. The food is good with the appetizers offering a great fusion of local flavors with international cuisine such as the homemade duck foie gras and the goat cheese filled fried plantains.

We only went for lunch and arrived late so had the patio to ourselves a rainy afternoon. Service and food quality were outstanding at reasonable prices when converted to US$. Definitely worth a stop if staying in Merida or Progresso to experience a time long past. Could not recommend the service staff more.

The venue is sensationally lovely with beautiful grounds. There is no sense that anyone else is staying there as it is set up so that rooms are kept quite separate...it truly is like being in someone's home, albeit a large one. My rooms were enormous, with separate living area and wonderfully huge bedroom and bath. Ceiling fans, good air conditioning.... More

Stopped for coffee and dessert at their restaurant Casa de Piedra on a rainy afternoon. Reasonable price for the experience. The place was so serene and full of charm. Very near north Merida. Strongly recommended.

We did not stay here; we ate at the restaurant. It had an incredible ambience, you could feel what the past must have been like for wealthy hacienda owners. (I won't go into the oppression of the workers). Beautiful, elegant, and excellent food.
