The hotel located in what was a mission, still has the monks cloisters, located around two courtyards, one with a fountain and trees, the second a small swimming pool. The staff were excellent, always helpful and willing to make the visit a success. We stayed 3 nights, using the restaurant twice. There are many restaurants close by, but the food... More

We stayed three nights at this hotel which is centrally located to the zocola and many restaurants. The courtyard and pool area are relaxing to sit in after a day sightseeing. The rooms however are average and in need of attention. We had to change rooms as the room we were first given on the ground floor smelt musty. The... More

Stayed here for two nights in December in one of the room in the first courtyard. Room pleasant enough but being in this area near to reception and breakfast area was noisy. The reception / hotel staff seem oblivious to the fact that there were guests trying to sleep. The television was on far too loud and staff started arriving... More

I like staying in unique accommodation hence opting for the La Mision del Fray Diego. Centrally located to where it all happens in Merida. The rooms are removed from the street front so are quiet. When you arrive it looks great but the rooms need a lot of TLC. The rooms are large but lacking in things such as a... More

The public areas at this hotel are very appealing. It's lovely to have breakfast looking out over the courtyard and fountain. However, maintenance of the rooms left something to be desired. My door would not lock, the bathroom was pretty awful, etc. But the location is A-1 and the staff members were very helpful and accommodating. We were on the... More

less than I remember...front desk needs a happy pill...gave me standard room when paid for upgrade. Do get the upgraded rooms as much better and nicer room than the standard. No internet in room as advertized not good. Great setting however. Nice outdoor patio restaurant for breakfast. Good location in centro close to everything. Very loud a/c. Don't think will... More

Stayed here for 4 nights using Merida as our base to see what was in the area. the first night we got there, we were put in an upstairs room which was a little ordinary (crappy shower, broken things) - and we were the only people staying in the hotel that night. Next day we requested a shift to the... More

We stayed for 2 nights. In our second night internet went down for the whole day and TV as well. The room we stayed had a TV furniture that had A LOT OF DUST on the top probably left like that for years, my wife has allergies to dust and she had really big problems to sleep. I never write... More

I have stayed in several hotels in Merida city, this was the first time at La Mision de Fray Diego. The entrance and courtyard areas are inviting, but the only original parts remaining. The rest of the hotel was underwhelming, including the staff. The room was clean and adequate, the bed was very hard, the bathroom small, and no counterspace... More

A short walk to the heart of the city; the colonial atmosphere brings a lot to the place; the new building in the back still catches the ambiance and offers comfort after a long hot day of walking. The room we had was spacious and comfortable. The staff was a bit rough on the edges at first(probably because of the... More
