I spent December 24th and 25th at Casa Mexilio, in their rooftop room (El Mirador). The place is beautiful, quiet, very comfortable. I loved the room and enjoyed the view of the city from the terrace. The staff was friendly, and the breakfasts were delicious. Yes, they have rules posted, but they were nothing I did not find reasonable (don't... more

My wife and I stayed there in early October this year. This small hotel with its colonial flair, the lush courtyard with a pool and its guest rooms is an oasis in bustling Merida. Close to the center of Merida all main sights are within walking distance so you can always return to the hotel for a swim or siesta...... more

In a large, old home, beautifully furnished with mostly antiques it seemed, nicely maintained courtyard, wonderfully bizarre arrangement of rooms with wandering staircases and pathways, cats asleep on chairs. Our room had a celing fan and for Nov. was all we needed with the large, screened windows open. Bathroom small but quaint. Very clean and the slightest bit musty -... more

We booked Casa Mexilio for the first two nights of our honeymoon after having picked it from a list of possible locations in Frommer's Yucatan Travel Guide. The Casa's website also helped us decide to make our reservation there; however, the website only gives you a teaser in regards to the magic of this place! It truly is a charming... more

I think the owners must have become aware of some of the scathing reviews on this site, because they could not have been more accomodating. I canceled our first night by email a couple of days before I was due to arrive, and even though the reservation agreement entitled them to the night's charge, they were happy to drop it.... more

Wow--it's now July 2007, I stayed here last December and January (two different visits) and I'm thinking of coming back next spring and out of curiosity read some reviews. Boy, I'm glad I didn't see those ridiculous negative reviews from some out-of-sorts travelers earlier in 2006. They might have scared me away. IGNORE THEM! . . . The owner is... more

We spent five nights in Cas Mexilio and it was pure happiness. The house is an amazing gem, decorated with an incredible taste. We stayed across the street, where there are two independent bedrooms. It was quiet and we enjoyed a lovely garden. The breakfast is divine and the staff very effective and polite. The owner has been a great... more

I stayed at Casa Mexilio in November, and was surprised to see so many negative reviews since. While it is true that the staff is not always super helpful, let us remind ourselves that English is a foreign language for most of them. As for the owner, while certainly being eccentric, he does a good job at providing a beautiful,... more

This is a couple of beautiful old Merida homes joined together to create a B and B. Our bed was comfortable, the staff was helpful and interesting. The gardens are fabulous. Our room was very spacious, with 2 bathrooms, a bed upstairs and one down. There was good air conditioning as well as a fan to keep the room cool... more

After reading the review for this hotel I was a bit nervous about my 2 night stay. But once I arrived at Casa Mexilio all my worries went away. The hotel is very ornate and old world feeling. The house has many levels and beautiful outside terraces to explore. Our room was very quaint with antique furniture and comes with... more
