Casa Mexilio is exactly what we were hoping for. It is a magical place with its tile floors, ups and down, and ins and outs -- definitely not a bunch of square rooms! The breakfast room is perfect with its huge open windows and antiques. This was our favorite hotel of our 10-day trip. The location is a few blocks... more

We had reserved two rooms for five days to see the Mayan sites in and around Merida. We arrived late but were met by the staff. The two rooms allocated to us were on the bottom floor. We found the rooms to be dirty, dark even in daylight. The promised WIFI was not avialable. The next morning breakfast could not... more

First, it is necessary that I thank Roger, Jorge and the hotel staff off the bat for helping us: for getting us to the airport in time when I mis-set my alarm clock, for helping us arrange accommodation at the Mayaland hotel, and for helping us find another room on that one night, the night when all hell broke loose,... more

this place was magical! from the moment we stepped into the entryway until we departed there was not one negative experience during our stay at Casa Mexilio. Roger and Jorge have created a space that is inviting yet private. YAY!!! we began our stay in the El Mirador room. walking through the arched hallway that led to the amazing terrace... more

We stayed at Casa Mexilio end of December 2008. What a disappointment! The good: It is a charming house with lots of antiques and it is a "special" place. We had a lovely balcony with views on the city. The bad: It is more for travellers looking for the charms of Dracula's castle in a tropical Transylvania than for travellers... more

My wife, sister, her boyfriend, and I stayed at the Casa Mexilio for two nights last week while traveling through the Yucatan. If you prefer a cookie cutter hotel, this is not the place for you. If you want to stay somewhere with tons of charm and local flavor, then I highly recommend you stay here. The staff is very... more

I just had the most magnificent stay at Casa Mexilio. I found Roger, the owner , to be most hospitable and friendly. His staff is extremely welcoming, helpful and just lovely. I felt like I was so well taken care of - and felt very much at home. The house is so tastefully decorated - just beautiful. I stayed in... more

We loved the Casa Mexilio. Personally, I knew I loved it within seconds of entering, around midnight. The core of the Mexilio is an old house; it felt like entering the private residence of someone with a sense of history and style. It was full of antiques, artfully placed, with indirect lighting, and cats; beyond the entry was a courtyard,... more

Casa Mexilio certainly generates a diversity of responses from travelers. Here is our experience. We found the house to be clean and beautifully furnished. Old cats doze on chairs and clamber on the roof. Occasionally they yowl. Staying there is more like being in a private house than a hotel. Yes, the owner has posted rules that might strike you... more

A very unfriendly, unwelcoming place! I had booked and paid for 4 nights and called by phone from Tulum to see if I could arrive a night early. The person I spoke to on the phone said I could and would reserve a room for me. We arrived to no room and the owner taking no responsibility at all for... more
