Hotel looks great and is comfortable enough. Staff is uneven. Some were very helpful and some were awful. They didn't call a taxi the night before my departure when I requested them to do so for an early flight that I wanted to get on to avoid the hurricane that was predicted to hit that evening. They instead hailed an... more

The hotel is situated a block from the main plaza in a fantastic old school Merida building. First impressions are great but the rooms let it down. We had a twin room on the first floor. The air con was antiquated and noisy and the bathroom was very small with a dirty shower and not much leg room on the... more

My wife and I had a four night trip in the Yucatan and we spent three nights in Merida at two different hotels. Exterior noise came in the room (third floor near the stair) becacuse there is only a thin window between the room and the hallway. The room (superior?) was dingy and smelled musty. The bathroom actually smelled like... more

This hotel is a gem! From the beautiful antique furniture in the lobby of this former convent to the black and white tiles, excellent restaurant (with two toucans keeping you company!) and rooftop pool with view of the University of the Yucatan, why stay anywhere else? Reasonably priced, big rooms; gorgeous tiles everywhere; free internet in the lobby; and location,... more

This hotel hasn't changed very much since I last stayed here, some 15 years ago. It is a pleasant enough place, with a terriffic location within a 2 or 3 blocks, in any direction, of just about everything you may want to see in the centro. The rooms, are not fancey but, they are clean and comfortable (if you are... more

Second stay at Hotel Caribe. Its location is perfect in Merida. Good comfortable clean rooms, pleasant staff, and the small pool and sundeck is a bonus. Would recommend if you want a base in Merida for a few nights. more

The Caribe Hotel is probably one of the best deals going for an affordable stay in Merida. I first stayed there in April 2005 for three or four nights at a cost of around $50.00-55.00 USD per night, including taxes, for a modest, but clean and functional room. The location is great - only one to two blocks from Merida's... more
