The Gran Hotel is the most central location you can have, but the tradeoff is that there's lots of activity around the hotel, including music playing in the adjacent square, until late some nights. I was there on New Year's Eve and didn't mind, expecting this. It's a great hotel with an old-world feeling. The rooms have a good price,... More

This hotel has a lot of charm. It's a beautiful building that is in the centre of town. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room slightly small but was clean and had a small balcony. It was perfect for a 2 night stay. Would definitely recommend this place.

Good value colonial style hotel in the historic centre of Mérida. Friendly staiff and fantastic location, a little rough around the edges but fantastic character. Very good value for money given the location. Quick tip: the so called Mayan coops waiters etc recommend are not open for a limited time only and I seriously doubt they are cooperatives at all.... I cannot really compare to other hotels in Merida as this is the only place I stayed while in town. It seemed cheap and the interior is really nice. Some of the prts in the lobby are falling apart and the lobby roof is i a pretty bad shape, but it isnt too noticeable. The rooms are good size and... More

Normally, we stay at budget hotels, as we backpacking around Yucatan. Gran Hotel was an exception from the rule. We stayed there for 3 nights (2 nights in one room and 1 night in the other - the hotel staff asked us to change the room and we did not mind at all). 1) the location is perfect - one... More

This is a beautiful old hotel in the best location in Centro. Not luxurious but comfortable. The staff have always been very attentive to our needs. Price is nice too! The one negative is no pool. It is very hot here in Merida in summer months and pool would be a big plus!

The hotel has good location as many others, but I was almost deceived by the staff who tried to get money out of a tour I had bookd with an agency myself, and my cellphone went missing in a taxi they offered me to go to the airport. After trying to talk to them several times, they lied to me... More

Rooms are lovely and have a/c. Everything one needs for a few night's stay. Many wonderful bars, restaurants and shops close by as well as great architecture. Symphony hall is on next block with players from all over the world. People in this city are very friendly and it is one of the safest in the world.

A really great hotel for the price. The restaurant is good too. Built in 1901 this will deliver the Colonial architecture of Merida flavor. There is a ton of antiques for sale in the huge lobby. Also, each floor has a huge sitting area all the way around a open patio that lights the inside of the building. We rented... More

This hotel was built in 1910 and is still very much original. There are no elevators, wifi or such modern conveniences. That is why the Gran is a great hotel for a night or two. There are antiques all over the hotel with wide verandas for relaxation on the top two floors with the center open. Very Spanish design. The... More
