This hotel was built in 1910 and is still very much original. There are no elevators, wifi or such modern conveniences. That is why the Gran is a great hotel for a night or two. There are antiques all over the hotel with wide verandas for relaxation on the top two floors with the center open. Very Spanish design. The... More

The El Gran hotel will not appeal to everyone. If you’re looking for a sleek, modern, no-character hotel, you will not choose the El Gran. On the other hand, if you’re up for experiencing one of the most beautiful, unique and memorable hotels in Merida, I recommend the El Gran highly. I’ll begin with the downsides – the magnificent skylight... More

Lots of character and unique decor & rooms. Beautiful furniture on display & for sale. Nice king bed and quiet on 2nd floor. Shows it's age in places but that's part if the character. Great location near the main square, historic sites, restaurants, and local shopping. Would stay again.

This hotel has its charm but also is a bit strange. Our room was on the 3rd floor. There is no elevator. Heat rises. By the time we got up to the third floor we wanted to DIE. Windows in rooms are bolted shut which is a huge NO NO in the event of a fire. Management said it was... More

We spent 4 nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The building has very lovely, and detailed architecture, and the room was quite large with high ceilings. A nice bonus was unlimited bottled water supplied and an in-room refrigerator. Some rooms can be close to the noise if next to the street. Our room was, so we got to hear... More

This charming "antique style" hotel is in a fantastic location close to the main square and major tourist attractions. There are many restaurants and shops nearby. The plaza right in front is great for people watching too. However, location comes with a price and the area is super noisy, especially at night on the weekends when the near-by restaurants set... The hotel is beautiful and the staff very helpful. Nice high-ceiling rooms, with very efficient and pleasant ceiling fans. Ask for a room with a view over the square. Very centrally located, everything is within easy reach.

The lobby is amazing and feels lik a museum. Our room was relly quiet but had no windw. The bathrooms are renovated but not the room that was a little stuffy. But still this old hotel has style and class.

We booked this hotel as our friends were staying here & it looked very historic which interested us plus central. we weren't disappointed. It could use some restoration but was very clean & not a bad price. The only thing I'd complain about was the service our friends had as they booked on line for 1 week & had a... More

This hotel is i a really good location, very central. The building itself is very charming and remains in good shape for old it is. The rooms themselves are not very luxurious the bedding and linens are not great. The water pressure in the shower is very low and there are no in-room mini bar items (coffee maker, bottle opener...
