This is a beautiful old hotel in the best location in Centro. Not luxurious but comfortable. The staff have always been very attentive to our needs. Price is nice too! The one negative is no pool. It is very hot here in Merida in summer months and pool would be a big plus!

The hotel has good location as many others, but I was almost deceived by the staff who tried to get money out of a tour I had bookd with an agency myself, and my cellphone went missing in a taxi they offered me to go to the airport. After trying to talk to them several times, they lied to me... More

Rooms are lovely and have a/c. Everything one needs for a few night's stay. Many wonderful bars, restaurants and shops close by as well as great architecture. Symphony hall is on next block with players from all over the world. People in this city are very friendly and it is one of the safest in the world.

A really great hotel for the price. The restaurant is good too. Built in 1901 this will deliver the Colonial architecture of Merida flavor. There is a ton of antiques for sale in the huge lobby. Also, each floor has a huge sitting area all the way around a open patio that lights the inside of the building. We rented... More

This hotel was built in 1910 and is still very much original. There are no elevators, wifi or such modern conveniences. That is why the Gran is a great hotel for a night or two. There are antiques all over the hotel with wide verandas for relaxation on the top two floors with the center open. Very Spanish design. The... More

The El Gran hotel will not appeal to everyone. If you’re looking for a sleek, modern, no-character hotel, you will not choose the El Gran. On the other hand, if you’re up for experiencing one of the most beautiful, unique and memorable hotels in Merida, I recommend the El Gran highly. I’ll begin with the downsides – the magnificent skylight... More

Lots of character and unique decor & rooms. Beautiful furniture on display & for sale. Nice king bed and quiet on 2nd floor. Shows it's age in places but that's part if the character. Great location near the main square, historic sites, restaurants, and local shopping. Would stay again.

This hotel has its charm but also is a bit strange. Our room was on the 3rd floor. There is no elevator. Heat rises. By the time we got up to the third floor we wanted to DIE. Windows in rooms are bolted shut which is a huge NO NO in the event of a fire. Management said it was... More

We spent 4 nights here and really enjoyed our stay. The building has very lovely, and detailed architecture, and the room was quite large with high ceilings. A nice bonus was unlimited bottled water supplied and an in-room refrigerator. Some rooms can be close to the noise if next to the street. Our room was, so we got to hear... More

This charming "antique style" hotel is in a fantastic location close to the main square and major tourist attractions. There are many restaurants and shops nearby. The plaza right in front is great for people watching too. However, location comes with a price and the area is super noisy, especially at night on the weekends when the near-by restaurants set...
