This is a lovely old hotel 1 block off the main plaza. It was wonderful stepping in off the busy streets into the quiet hotel. Rooms are lovely and big; bathroom and shower were huge. Free parking was a plus. One down side...plaza in front of hotel over loaded with street vendors.

This is a lovely old hotel 1 block off the main plaza. It was wonderful stepping in off the busy streets into the quiet hotel. It was sooo quiet that sometimes it felt weird speaking. Rooms are lovely and big; bathroom and shower were huge. Free parking was a plus. Some folks complained of street noise in their reviews but... More

Located on a small but very nice plaza one block from Plaza Grande you can not beat the location or surroundings albeit it can be a bit noisy. The rooms are quite long in the tooth but livable The amazing part is that the hotel was built in 1901 and looks like it has never been remodeled. But it also looks... More

Great classic slightly worn hotel at the center of old Merida, literally a block off the main plaza, easy to get cabs, free parking( if you have a car just park it< traffic in Merida is unnerving) Very clean big rooms, tiny baths though, loads of old Mexican charm. Great stay in a great city.

the hotel has a great vibe full of history, a building from the early 1900 still keeps the mystery of old times, the furniture and architecture shows you that there are secrets hidden in every corner. It's in the heart of the city so it might be a bit noisy but you're close to everything, the cathedral, the plaza, restaurants... More

The hotel is very vintage, with signs of past glory all around. Indeed the furnished of the reception and of the rooms seems like from the early 1900. Room are all big and clean and the hot water arrives after some minutes but overall is good. The hotel location is fantastic, it's ok caille 60 right in the city center... More

We stayed at the Hotel El Gran and if you are into beautiful old buildings and antiques like I am, you will love the place. The hotel itself was built in 1901 and has retained it’s charm. It is loaded with antique furniture and much of it is for sale with price tags on it. The items were in excellent... More

Just on the city center about two blocks from the city hall. a very nice hotel in front of a church and a garden. Low Wi-Fi in the rooms but acceptable nearby the front desk No breakfast served but the neighbor restaurant was acceptable for about 10$ each. No parking zone or a place nearby to get the suitcases. No... More

Be nice to yourself and spend a couple of nights in this hotel. But - if you expect the boring everywhere resort type of hotel, the banal tourist place - be nice to mankind and stay away from El Gran Hotel. There are too many of those places in Mexico and the rest of the world, and enough people who... More

This is a great relic of the past....not quite living...where you can imagine the wealthy elegant guests of the era stepping out for a night of culture and society at Teatro Peón Contreras. There is almost an abandoned, forgotten feel about the place where you half expect to step out of your room and be the only person in the... More
