This hotel retains its old antique look, since it was opened in 1901,making you feel like you are in an agatha Christy novel. The room comes with a wardrobe, a safe, tv and a bathrobe. WiFi is easily accessible throughout the hotel. Looks like the sheets were changed every day. Beautiful, and at a prime location, walking distance from a... More

A wonderful hotel of old fashion times of Mexico. Super placed in the centre. Fantastic stuff and atmosphere. Have a orange juice with a bit Baccardi rum and you can start dream. And then start to travel on fantastic Yucatan monuments :-)

This hotel is located just a walk from town square. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Many restaurants are located within walking distance and there is one right out the front door. Hotel does not offer breakfast but local restaurants offer a good breakfast at reasonable prices. Stayed here from Dec. 27/13 to Jan. 1/14. If you don't have... More

To be fair, in that weather the worn hotel may just be par for the course. Stayed in one room with husband and a 12 and 14 year old. The boys loved the hotel. Great, great, great location. The restaurant beside the hotel wasn't stellar, but we went across the street after that for our afternoon margarita. Other reviews about... More

Yes indeed this the hotel if you want to be close to downtown. This is an OLD HOTEL from 1.901where service is absolutely NON EXISTING, except and ONLY EXPECT if you deal with Roberto when he is at the night shift. They have a receptionist during day time called Christian that is absolutely terrible: I don´t know why he is... More

Walking into the Gran Hotel, one has the feeling that M. Gustav from the Grand Budapest Hotel might be right around the corner. For this hotel is clearly more than just a hotel. While its grandeur may be a bit rougher around the edges than in 1901 when it first opened its doors, it is spectacular and one of the... More

Great location, Beautiful old hotel in the heart of the city, But They told me they had AC and after checking out 3 rooms I could not find one that did, they tried putting me in the nicest suite but NO AC when it's 90 degrees doesn't work for me. As a bonus if your room faces the Square they... More

This hotel is right in the bustle of things so getting sleep is difficult especially if you face onto the street. Go as high up as possible The music stopped after 1 am and started at 6.30am. A real shame as we loved its location and the colonial building. Very palatial with tiles terracot ceiling. Huge reception area selling antiques... More

I first stayed at the Gran in June 1974. This was well before it was fully restored and air conditioning added but it was truly a life saver for me as I had been traveling thru the Yucatan for a couple weeks and arrived in Merida with a bad stomach virus. One of the housekeeping staff kept checking in to... More

The Gran Hotel was built in the twilight years of the Imperious reign of Porfirio Diaz, when vast wealth flowed into Merida from the henequen haciendas selling fibre to the world. As such, the hotel has a grand staircase at the back end of an interior courtyard that is covered over to keep out the rain while letting in the... More
