The hotel was very well situated, in Merida, a short walk from the main square. The swimming pool was very nice and also quiet. However the rooms are all based around a central courtyard which did get quite noisy on some days. Another source of noise was the tiled floors when people wheeled their suitcase along it. Especially annoying when... More

After staying in charming historic hotels, the Hotel Del Gobernador was a real disappointment -- spartan rooms, no charm, and a very convention/conference/business atmosphere. But, easy to walk everywhere in the historic district, and safe neighborhood.

The staff here are friendly and speak English. The valet was very helpful and spoke good English. Our room was on the inside second floor area and was quiet, average size, very clean with good A/C. We enjoyed our stay here because of its location. It is close to everything, yet you are not in the center of a noisy... More

We arrived in Merida on the overnight bus from Palenque at 6:00am. They only had 2 rooms for our group of 12. We were told our rooms would be ready first noon, then 2:00 and then 3:00, still no rooms. We could see empty rooms all during this time. Go stay anyplace else than Del Governador when coming to Merida.... More

We are very sorry to read your comment in this page and that your visit to Hotel del Gobernador was not what you were expecting. We are mainly sorry that you did not receive the right information from your tour guide since the hotel was booked under the same conditions that you explain. Since our check-in time is 3 pm.... We stayed in this hotel for a night as part of a group tour which included breakfast and dinner, our experience may not reflect individual bookings. The hotel is situated reasonably close to the main square and shops. Although we didn’t need to find parking space I gather there is limited parking in surrounding streets. There are no escalators but... More

We stayed here two separate times on this trip, the first room was on the ground floor and seemed to have a humidity problem. There was a large dehumidifier in the room. Overall I would say the room was just "okay". The second room that we had was on the second floor and this room was significantly better. Both rooms... More

This hotel was better than we expected for the price we paid (under $60.00 Canadian ). As reported in many other reviews location is it's best feature. You might be a little disappointed when you first arrive as the pictures show the hotel when it was in newer and in more pristine condition. With a little work this hotel could... More

The best thing of this hotel is its location, is very well situated near the Cathedral and down-town. But based on my experience i think if you go with a group the service is much better than if you travel alone. The rooms are ok if you only use them to sleep. Pool is small and clean.

This hotel was well situated with great airconditioning (which was good because Merida was filthy hot),free wifi (a bit patchy at times), an average restaurant and excellent service. The rooms are clean and the pool areas restful and clean as well. Roger made us feel very welcome and was pleasure to deal with.

This is such a beautiful small hotel! The courtyard behind the reception is so lovely to sit and relax. The rooms are good, clean and reasonably priced. The airconditioning works and so does everything else. If only the toilets were a little larger. If you are built large do check out the toilet before you take the room! The staff... More
