We stayed for two nights in this beautiful colonial house. The bedroom was simple but very clean and well appointed. Breakfast was good and served in the patio/garden. The staff was very accomodating and responsive. It was a really nice place to unwind after a day in the chaos of Merida. more

We booked a week and enjoyed it immensely. The rooms could use a little touch up, but there's a beautiful atmosphere throughout. Lush plants, interesting artifacts, colorful rooms. Breakfast outside in the courtyard was fine. There was always someone on the premises who was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, just blocks from the town's main square. A great... more

I just came back from an 11 day stay in Merida. My first 5 nights were spent at Casa San Juan. Lovely old colonial setting about five blocks from the Plaza Grande. Although the area is mainly commercial, and the street a main thoroughfare, the room was very quiet. Nice garden in the rear for breakfast and reading. My Spanish... more

Casa San Juan is ok for the low price you pay, however, the owner does not stay on the property any more, as one reviewer stated. He might have in the past, but not anymore. There is now a rotation of 3 people who often get their communications mixed up leaving no one on the premisis. Only one attendant speaks... more

We made reservations to stay at the Casa San Juan from February 7 through February 12, 2008 and specifically inquired about their cancellation policy. We were sent via email a copy of their policy which states a full refund will be made if the cancellation is made thirty days prior to the reservation arrival date. They requested full payment via... more

I made reservations a month ago to stay over a busy holiday season, and I corresponded with them a few times to confirm. A couple weeks ago, I received an email cancelling my reservations because they mistakenly "overbooked". This is very unprofessional. Reservations at this place must not mean much. more

We stayed at Casa San Juan for 2 nights (payed for 6)beginning of February. Decor and furnishings were nice but the location isn't the greatest in our opinion. We found it noisy at night and there didn't seem to be anyone there overnight minding the place. The breakfast consisted of coffee, a bun and nothing else. The rooms were clean... more

On our great Odessey around Mexico, staying in Merida's Casa San Juan, was a delightfull time. Its biggest value are the welcoming owner and stuff, what made us feel like being at good friends' place. Pablo Dacosta was available with his reliable advice long before we appeared in Merida - in the travel planning stage. Take this chance if luxury... more

Even having lived in Dallas, my family had never visited Mexico. Eventually we decided to explore a part of Mexico rich in Mayan culture and archeology. At the same time we wanted to find a comfortable and affordable accommodation that would have a good location and enable us to explore and have a really good time. We found all of... more

Casa San Juan is a lovely and affordable retreat in an otherwise noisy and hot city. Don't get me wrong - I love Merida more and more with each visit, but I was unprepared for it on my first trip there. It took me a few days to warm to the city, but it took me only a few minutes... more
