This hotel is very pleasant and well located. It is 2 blocks to the main plaza and one and a half to St Lucia plaza where many events occur. It is half a block to the fabulous small Chaya Maya and 2 blocks to the bigger Chaya Maya restaurant. I was staying in a room with a Murphy bed. Sleeping... More

Great location- walk to everything in the historic center of Merida. The hotel has a restaurant. The room was nice and clean. I would rate it a 4 star hotel. The toilet seat was problematic- too small for the toilet and kept coming off. Good internet. The people at the desk spoke English. The bellmen were helpful and knew how... More

The hotel is clean, comfortable and the staff was the best. We were treated like royalty. We traveled to Merida with friends who had not yet decided where to stay. When they saw the lobby and spoke to the desk clerk, they went ahead and checked in. The breakfast buffet was the best I have seen.

The location is good - close to the center. Funny hair drier - pocket size, almost impossible to use. One free Chanel in English on tv (cnn) - could be more. A breakfast is really good - I would say it is rather lunch. Swimming pool is small and useless. To switch on the light in the toilet you must... More

The room was booked for me because I attended a business meeting in Merida and I stayed in a double room which had a lovely view over the city. Night views were great! breakfast is opulent and delicious, you literally get anything you want and it will keep you up and running for the rest of the day. The hotel... More

Lovely place to stay. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a buffet and very good. If you are expecting 5 star rooms you will be disappointed but rooms are very clean. Hotel is central to historic centre and good restaurants. We stayed in time share rooms on second floor and could be a bit noisy on weekends. We... More

Another one night stop on our grand tour of Mexico. It is very centrally located and, as such, is geat for getting out and about to see the city. The city itself is quite low-rise and I was in a room on the 10th floor of the hotel which gave me a lovely panoramic view of the city. The hotel... More

My wife and I have been staying at hotel el Castellano since it reopened (and before it closed).about 20 plus years ago. This is a hotel in the center of all the action. It isn't luxurious just clean and more than satisfactory. The personnel are very friendly, the restaurant is excellent for breakfast and you can walk to any of... More

Fully concur with other poor ratings. Disco went on until 5.00 am. However the most important problem, and I am amazed that nobody has mentioned this, is that the Hotel is a fire trap. With an un-enclosed main stair any fire at ground level would immediately smoke log all the bedroom corridors. Bedrooms, themselves, do not have self closing fire-resistant... More

Stayed in this hotel for one night during my tour of Mexico, it has a perfect position in Merida: just a few blocks away from the main plaza. The hotel is clean, our room had a nice view on the cathedral and it features a free parking (perfect if you have rented a car) and free wifi. It is clean,... More
