Another one night stop on our grand tour of Mexico. It is very centrally located and, as such, is geat for getting out and about to see the city. The city itself is quite low-rise and I was in a room on the 10th floor of the hotel which gave me a lovely panoramic view of the city. The hotel... More

My wife and I have been staying at hotel el Castellano since it reopened (and before it closed).about 20 plus years ago. This is a hotel in the center of all the action. It isn't luxurious just clean and more than satisfactory. The personnel are very friendly, the restaurant is excellent for breakfast and you can walk to any of... More

Fully concur with other poor ratings. Disco went on until 5.00 am. However the most important problem, and I am amazed that nobody has mentioned this, is that the Hotel is a fire trap. With an un-enclosed main stair any fire at ground level would immediately smoke log all the bedroom corridors. Bedrooms, themselves, do not have self closing fire-resistant... More

Stayed in this hotel for one night during my tour of Mexico, it has a perfect position in Merida: just a few blocks away from the main plaza. The hotel is clean, our room had a nice view on the cathedral and it features a free parking (perfect if you have rented a car) and free wifi. It is clean,... More

We stayed for one night in this hotel on a Thomas Cook Legends of The Yucatan Tour. We were a family of eight within a larger group of two dozen people. Of the three hotels we stayed in, one in Valladolid and the other in Uxmal, this came out tops. It is a city hotel so it is more functional... More

My wife and I are traveling around the Yucatan Peninsula and parts of Central America. We spent the weekend in Merida's Historical Central District area. We needed a hotel that was safe, somewhat modern, inexpensive and fairly well located near the Central District area. El Castellano satisfied everyone of those criteria's. It is approximately 4 or so Mexico blocks from... More

We enjoyed our short stay at this hotel... It's got all that a traveller is looking for. El Castellano is central, comfortable and a good value for money. The room was big and the fact that you get another sink outside the bathroom makes it the more comfortable especially when you're sharing the room with 2 other people. The food... More

The Catellano was recommended as a great hotel, safe and in the city center, and at an affordable price. That was indeed the case. It is more basic as for example the Hilton (where we got to stay a couple of days more), but nicely kept (a little older), excellent front desk service, wifi, breakfast restaurant, business center...a good option.... Very good location. Our room was spacious with two double beds, table, chairs, and a very large window we could see a big part of the city. The room did not have mini bar but had free wi-fi. In the bathroom the amenities and the size of the towels could have been better.Very helpful in the reception. In the restaurant the... More

We spent one night in Merida on an excursion to the ruins at Uxmal through Royal Resorts (they own this hotel) and it was a letdown from the 5 star treatment at the Royal Haciendas in Playa del Carmen. It had the feel of a business hotel, the rooms are average and dated, and could use a good deep clean... More
