My first time in Merida, Yucatan. I came for a two day stay at this hotel and ended up staying four. From the front desk staff, to the administrator, they all made me feel welcomed, and everyone would go out of their way to ask me and make sure that I felt comfortable. They made my stay, a pleasant experience.... More

Stayed a few nights here. Relaxed and laid back hotel. Room was clean, secure and overlooked a small central pool. Admin check in was efficient and the room clean and comfortable. Housekeeping made it interesting with bedding displays each day. Very central location for the main squares where the action is. Merida uses the American block system, so you only... More

Hotel was beautiful, but administration was not. First they immediately charged three rooms on my VISA card for four days because I reserved the rooms for three couples who expected to pay upon checkout. They refused to remove the charge until the other couples paid in full in advance. Second they nickel and dimed us for the whole stay. Water... More

Merida is not what one would call a 'tourist' town. It is extremely shabby except for the public areas. Having said that it has its allure and I found the children who interviewed me for a school project simply charming. The hotel is situated away from the centre and walking to it one is chocked by car exhausts as the... More

Very helpful and friendly staff, I had a couple of slightly odd requests which they helped me with. It isn't exactly modern and could probably do with a bit of a refurb, but the rooms were clean, the pool was nice and the food wasn't bad at all.

The hotel is one of those mansions that were grand in Merida at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. The lobby, around a courtyard is absolutely gorgeous. Sofas and chairs around in the 19th century theme. Romanesque pillars and a garden in the middle. All the flooring is marble. Very elegant entrance in the lobby... More

We stayed here in 3 persons room with 3 double beds but no space even to open suitcases. so we were jumping over them in the room. Nice but very small pool, very pour breakfast. Staff was friendly but mostly speaks only spanisch very close to city centre would not go here again

Beautiful building unfortunately catering to non-discerning mass tourism. Arriving at 9.30 and interfering with the receptionists flirtations we received a 'fill that in' and a general vague wave at the direction of the lift. Room exceptionally poor for price. Attempting to get good at. 10.30 grudgingly told restaurant could manage something small as special favour. Such grace' Give this place... More

The Gran Real in Merida is carved out of one of those mansions that flourished in Merida at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. The lobby, around a courtyard is absolutely gorgeous, fit with fluffy sofas and chairs that make staying away from the brutal summer sun a joy. Rooms, bathrooms and breakfasts deserve the... More

We stayed 5 nights at the Gran Real. I thought the hotel was very nice. The beds were comfortable, the air conditioning was cold and the rooms were clean. The breakfast buffet was very good, there are eggs, french toast, danishes and the wonderful fresh fruit and yogurt. The service was typical for Mexico. I really liked the bar and... More
