I stayed in the mixed dorm that had the female bathroom - all the females had to walk through the dorm to get to it, so it was a little bit inconvenient . Otherwise the room was okay; the hostel is located right at the central plaza. The staff is friendly, and helpful to traveling to areas around Merida.

Excellent location, average hostel. I stayed one night in the women's dorm for 140 pesos. The layout makes it so that all the women have to walk through the women's dorm in order to get to the bathroom. That's my biggest complaint--lots of disruption during the evening, night, and morning. Otherwise, the hostel is pretty clean, has pleasant decor, and... More

After traveling from Hawaii, many hours later, we arrived in Merida and at the door of Hostal Zocalo. Just like we'd been warned online, they had no record of our reservation....even though we had prepaid 10%, luckily it was slow season and the place was probably only 30% full. We were greeted warmly upstairs, and shown to a private room... More

I really loved the place, it's an historical big house very well located. And the staff: it's the best ever =) Guillermo

We spend 2 nights at this hostel and we payed 290 pesos/1 night for private room with shared bathroom, breakfast included. It is very good deal, it has excellent location and the building is beautiful. We got room at very bottom floor, with fan. There are two bathrooms at the floor and also little common area with table and chairs.... More

Was a really good spot to be and a beautiful building, but otherwise, was un-impressive...our private room was on the bottom floor without really any windows, but it was clean. we couldn't get hot water and the staff, while very nice, weren't too ready with helpful info when we arrived (i.e. a map, bus info, etc). the wifi worked, the... This hostel is located on the main square, we stayed in a basic double which was only 290 pasos a night, small room with a fan and comfy bed. Breakfasts are good! Women's showers and toilets are ok, men's not as good (no door on the toilet) worth the money!

Good location but when we got there they tried to charge us for breakfast even though it says it's included, so it doesn't work out good value. Showers were cold, people smoke inside.

Nice hostel in a fantastic location with helpful & pleasant staff. The rooms overlooking the Zocalo have awesome balconies, and a great place to sit in the evenings.

Easily the best breakfast I have had included at a hostel, with loads of fruit, cereals, bread and pancakes on offer!! The staff are friendly, if a little disorganised (missing bookings are not unusual) and the building itself is beautiful (an old colonial mansion on the square), also the location is perfect. Rooms are fine, some smaller than others, those... More
