Good things: Free breakfast, pleasant staff, walking distance to town, location. Not so good things: No reading lights by bed or desk, lovely but shallow beach has numerous stingrays and 5 people were stung in the week that we stayed there. Quick Tips about Going to Isla. Get you money converted to MN Peso anywhere except the Mexico Airport in Cancun. We got an terrible exchange rate there. If you are looking for a cheap get away, a place away from the craziness of Cancun - Isla Mujeres and Avalon Reef Club are the place for you. Low key no nonsense environment. Does not have all the ammenities of a higher end Cancun hotel. Clean, decent food, GREAT swimming beach. more

We had a wonderful time in Isla Mujeres. Everyone at the resort treated us kindly and as a same sex couple, we were welcomed all over the island.
