We had no idea what to expect other than what we saw online. The photos of Isla Mujeres and the Avalon Reef Club do it no justice !! The Carribean Ocean once at the Avalon was breath taking !!! It was fabulous to cross the little bridge and be at the Avalon. The food in the hotel was limited in... more

Arrange your stay directly through the properties website (you will be routed to Vacation store of Coral Gables) for the best rate. I saved a fortune over the typical lodging sites. My stay on Isla Mujeres was 6 days and 5 nights. I was one of only 15 people at the entire resort. I felt like it was my own... more

We stayed on the island for our 10th wedding anniversary. We stayed in a villa and it wasn't exactly luxurious but was nice enough. It had a private balcony overlooking the water and at night you could see cruise liners going by. The bed was hard and my husband had a difficult time with that. The food was just ok,... more

If you like great water and great snorkeling this is the place to go. The hotel itself is good enough. They really try to push the time shares, but learn from my mistake. Avoid the sales pitch. They will promise you a trip or a golf cart rental if you hear their sales pitch. You are on vacation. Don't waste... more

The hotel was what we expected.... great service, exclusive beach, and the room service sensational.. no alcohol in room service so we bought a bottle of cuban rum and spiked our cokes when we were too lazy to walk the 3 minutes to the bar.. which is adequately stocked with cuban rum and good liquor. the hotel restaurant is good... more

We traded our timeshare for a week in one of the Avalon villas. The villa was large but minimally furnished - at least it had a refrigerator. We did not purchase the meal plan - good thing as the food was mediocre and they served the same menu over and over. The pool was kind of small - surprising because... more

46 members of the Crawgator Dive Club (Shreveport/Bossier, LA) spent last week at the AR. It was great. First of all, is the proper perspective: Isla Mujeres, and the AR are smaller, more laid back, and relaxed than your typical tourist trap. That is good. Several of our group stayed in the bungalows without complaint. Those in the tower did... more

Our 9 day Avalon adventure was fantastic. Waking up to a beautiful sunrise in our studio roomwas the start to our exciting day.....Our group of six-adults met every morning to eat breakfast and watch the fisherman and pelicans scoup up their morning meals. A local fisherman would wade in and catch his bait fish with his hand thrown net about... more

I chose this resort over others because of the favorable reviews that I read here and felt a responsibility to offer others my thoughts on my stay here. This hotel has a splendid setting. The views are truely breathtaking. The grounds are very clean and the staff friendly and helpful.(with the exception of the wait staff) The ice box will... more

We just returned from our trip to Avalon Reef ( June 5th -16th 2008 ) overall it was a great trip, but let me mention a couple items that I think are important when traveling and deciding where to stay. First let me say that I believe that a vacation is only what you make of it and my husband... more
