The location was great, but after looking around the island found cheaper options for the same amenities. Also, they added in an extra tax when we checked out that they didn't tell us about when we asked for the rate. Wireless was also only available in the lobby when we were there. Would have loved to see a hot tub... more

My husband and I returned to Francis Arlene after being there 12 years ago. Not much has changed except the staff has gotten older. The rooms are pretty basic with a KS bed, fridge, hot water and fan. Our room had a small balcony. They are clean and the A/C works well (room 19). Some rooms are darker than others... more

This facility is very good. We have stayed here twice, and have always been efficiently and pleasantly greeted. We love the location - you can walk to anywhere you want to go - beach, town, restaurants, etc. yet it is quiet and relaxing. A couple of people have had complaints about hot water and toilet facilities. Please remember you are... more

I'm not sure if I got the worst room on this property but I cannot recommend this place and feel let down by the other reviewers who recommended it. The property itself is beautiful, but the rooms are not. Our toilet didn't flush and leaked all over the bathroom, which is always fun on tile floors. Our beds (I was... more

I liked the location of Francis Arlene because it is not on Ave. Hidalgo where all the noisy places are. It is on Ave. Guerrero which is much calmer. The price was fine for the time of year which is the high season. It is definitely cheaper to pay in Pesos instead of dollars when you get there ($75 vs.... more

We really enjoyed staying at the Hotel Francis Arlene. It had really hot water and it was very clean. The housekeeper cleaned our room at least one hour every day. The location was the best part. There was a wonderful ocean front promenod (sp) just one block away. The public beach was three blocks. The Ferry landing was five blocks.... more

My family has stayed at the Francis Arlene several times, and we have never once been disappointed. The owners and staff are invariably friendly and helpful. The rooms are beyond clean. The hot water is hot; the linen smells good; the courtyard is charming. Jerry (owner) and desk manager (Virginia) will do anything to make your Isla stay memorable. more

We stayed here 3 nights in March. The owners and desk attendants speak english well. I was surprised by a page of rules and then we had to sign that we agreed to all of them. One of the rules was not to bring sand inside. This is a few blocks from the ocean. How can you avoid it? This... more

We were originally staying in another hotel on Isla Mujeres, however demolition of the neighbouring building was in progress. From 7am. After being kept awake all night by the bedbugs (don't ever stay at Hotel EL CARACOL!!!). Luckily the Frances Arlene came to the rescue with 2 rooms ready for immediate check in. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and... more
