This was a nice resort, 3.5 star at best and definitely not 4 stars. I think they should re-evaluate their star rating to help potentials guests check their expectations. Pros: Fantastic beach, excellent Guest Service (Royal Club), Pools, activities, sunset views, mangrove trail to the beach, other guests are very friendly and not pretentious, the drinks flow, Sol and Dos... We have been going to Cancun and Cozumel now for 13 years and this was the worst vacation we have ever been on . We usually go for about two weeks we ended up here because the place we like was under renovations. I will tell u a few good things about the place were the bartenders and the maids.... More

We just returned from Cozumel a few weeks ago. We did not upgrade to the Royal club. Im sure it would have made the experience better after staying in building 16. I want to explain our stay but also not make the place sound like it was awful because it wasn't. I have just stayed at nicer places and when... More

We paid extra for the Royal Club & were glad we did. You have access to an exclusive hot-tub pool and restaurant, and room service though we didn't use that. We met with some people who were in the other portion of the resort & got locked into their room for an hour (they had reported a problem with their... More

We stayed at the Royal Club for a week in mid January, reading the reviews before we arrived I was a little nervous, however we had a fantastic week. I had no problems with food, we ate at the buffet and thought it very good, they even had a mimosa station for breakfast and a wide variety of foods and... More

We just returned from a week here. We were in the Royal Club, on the recommendation of previous reviews, and I heartily endorse this option if you can take it. The facility is in a beautiful setting, and the beach is absolutely fantastic. Our room was one of the top floor suites, and at a little over 900 sq ft... More

Great place for a relaxing weekend. We read a lot of reviews before coming here so we were prepared for a few downsides. However, we were pleasantly surprised with everything. Prior to arrival (one week) I emailed the hotel and ask to make sure we got a king size bed. They took care of it no problem. Room (deluxe) was... More

This was our 5th consecutive year visiting the Occidental Grand and we wouldn’t hesitate to return again. The first word I can think of to describe our visits to the Royal Club has been consistency and, in our opinion, much of this can be attributed to the Manager, Nelly Baas. She is very prompt and helpful in responding to any... More

This place sucks the big one. Whatever you do, do not go to the free gifts, tickets, whatever they offer for free 90 minute presentation. This presentation can take hours. Stay away from these people trying to get u to buy into their vacation club. It is a total rip off. You can book your own vacations for way less.... More

We are just wrapping up a 4 night stay at the Royal Club and it has been a delightful vacation! The weather has not cooperated (rainy) and this has led to some flooding and general waterlogged facilities but we can roll with that pretty easily. We came here to dive and the onsite dive shop and distance to the dock... More
