I stayed for six nights at the Hotel Aguilar over the New Year 2013-2014. It is more Motel than Hotel. After reading the other reviews, I had concerns about staying there and checked the room as soon as I arrived. There were no bed bugs and the bedding and towels smelled clean although they were threadbare. The towels were changed... More

PROS: close to centro, working AC, towels and soap provided CONS: sneaky receptionist and unchanged sheets My sister and I checked into the hotel on Thursday, March 1st. On Friday morning, we checked out, but after a long day decided to go back to the hotel for a second night. They gave us a room... which coincidentally was the room... More

Stayed here 3 nights in mid-March. I got sick and couldn't dive, so I switched from a dive-centric hotel outside of town to a place that had a pool and was quiet at night. I needed to sleep, and eat some Mexican chicken soup, but wanted to spend my time walking around town and finding nice cafes to read at... More

What do you really need when you are on vacation? A place to sleep!.. Hotel Aguilar is safe, clean, has good hot water and air conditioning. PLUS it is downtown and a half block from the beach. Convenient for divers, shoppers and diners. The Aguilar family has always owned it and it has not changed in the 30 years I... More

Nice small budget hotel. No bells or whistles. Clean rooms, A/C and hot water. Wireless internet in lobby area. Two blocks from plaza and one block from Melgar. Next door to Sorrisi Italian restaurant. You can walk to all the downtown areas from this budget hotel.

This review is for those of you want to do a trip to Cozumel inexpensively. Please see my reviews of El Presidente and Cozumel Palace if you prefer upscale accommodations. Hotel Aguilar is located on Calle 3 Sur, just up from Melgar, the ocean front road. It is $45 USD a night, which includes tax. It has two double beds,... More

Hotel Aquilar is an older, quaint, family run hotel with a small internal courtyard and pool surrounded by beautiful fruit trees and flowers. It is 1/2 block from the main boulevard and two blocks from the central square of San Miquel, so within walking distance of shops, restaurants, and banks. We have stayed there at least five times. The rooms... More
