The Playa Azul is a nice little hotel on the north side of the island. It was a very clean hotel with a nice staff and very large room. We did have to take taxis every night into town but there is always a taxi waiting and it was well worth being away from the busy downtown and cruise ships.... more

The hotel is only about 50 rooms so it is very personal. We had a room up on the fourth(top) floor with a stunning view of the ocean and all the cruise ships sailing in. We just got back from a 5-day stay at the Playa Azul. There were very few people there the whole time we were. The breakfasts in the morning were excellent-great variety, both contintental and local cuisines. We stayed as this wonderful small hotel the first week of August 2008. Our overall experience was wonderful. The hotel is quiet, the staff is friendly and attentive and suites in the original wing are spacious and comfortable. While the decor is not 5 star luxurious it is quite nice, colorful and bright. Great experience and value!!! This is definitley off of the beaten path...which was great because the cruise ship areas were generally packed with people.
