April 27, 2007 The Mayland has absolutely beautiful typical Yucatan flora and the grounds are nicly kept--not lush, as the jungle around Chichen is dry..not tropical rain forest or abundant in flowers. The hotel itself is in serious need of a large influx of funds to clean it up and make it functional. It is a 1940's large sprawling place,... More

We stayed at a Mayaland Bungalow for six nights. Upon arriving it took 25 minutes to check in, which was unnecessary. When we got to the bungalow, it was nice, but smelled like sewage. My husband complained and they were very nice and changed our room without any problems. The new bungalow was better. The beds are only full -size... More

I have travelled all around the world, this Hotel is amazing with beautiful gardens, excellent workers that will go above your expectations to make you feel you are in another planet. Highly recommended for high class people who wants to avoid crowds and take some time away from everything and enjoy probably the most incredible Mayan ruins, Chichen Itza, situated... More

We booked an overnight tour to Chichen Itza and stayed at the Mayaland Hotel. The main point was to be able to see the light show at night and to visit the ruins in the morning before the heat and the tourists. That worked extremely well, although the light show was all in Spanish and we were never told how... More

Traveller beware. I usually take these customer-written reviews with a grain of salt, since I think many American travellers, especially to foreign countries, are expecting too much and are a bit fussy. I'm a veteran international traveller, so I expect (and in fact even hope for) a bit of the unusual, as this adds to the adventure. But this place... More

We stayed at this hotel for three nights as part of our Yucatan Experience tour. We decided to upgrade to include all meals, including full a la carte and all drinks. It was certainly well worth it and can therefore not comment on the cost of the hotel as it was included in the overall holiay cost. The route up... More

This hotel has an excellent location adjacent to the ruins with a private entrance to the ruins to avoid the crowds at the main entrance. The original old building is impressive and the grounds are splendid, but the building containing most of the standard rooms is poor and our room was very 'tired' and, astonishingly, had no telephone. Check-in was... More

Mayaland is located right next to the Chichen Itza site. When you arrive at the front entrance of Chichen Itza, you have to go through the site (and pay the entrance fee) to reach the Mayaland hotel. Your entrance ticket gives you the right to visit the light and sound show at night, which isn't very special but still fun... More

My husband and I just returned from Mexico and we stayed at the Mayaland resort Friday Jan 5, 2007. We rented a car in Cancun and drove on the toll road to get there. We had to drive in the dark which was a bit of an adventure. The road was really nice and there was minimal traffic. We were... More

The location and the hotel grounds can't be beat. We woke early and entered the ruins at 8:00 in the morning and pretty much had the place to ourselves. The hotel itself leaves much to be desired. The rooms were neat and clean but the TV and air conditioning unit were at least 15 years old. They had several restaurants... More
