I don't quite understand why you would put a hotel so near a major road without ensuring that the rooms/cabins are insulated more against noise. Passing traffic was very audible. Worse was the bug problem, again, I can't fathom why you would put a hotel in the middle of a jungle and not provide mosquito nets. I bathed in DEET... More

The majority of our vacation was on Isla Mujeres, but since we've always wanted to see Chichen Itza, we flew into Cancun a few days earlier so we would be able to do that without doing a day trip marathon from the island. To that end, we were looking primarily for a place in close proximity to the ruins where... More

The Dolores Alba is a good place to stay at a reasonable price, especially if, as in our case, you want to arrive in the area, spend the night, then see the ruins in the relatively cool and less crowded hours right at opening. There are two pools, and an on-site restaurant which served quality dishes. It is directly across... More

If you're looking for a good value hotel, with nice facilities for kids close to CI, think about this one. Pools are great, it's very relaxed (as is the service), surrounded by jungle. Great birding in the AM right around the pool areas.

I'd read reviews from other people before booking this trip so I knew what to expect but I have to say I liked the hotel. Things are basic but the rooms are clean, the wifi works and there are two lovely wee pools. Sure it's right on a main road and can get a little noisy but it's not really... More

We drove in from the Cancan airport to this hotel, about 3 hours (note: have pesos ready if you take the highway as the tolls are pretty stiff: 258.00 at one tollgate, 63 at another), wanting to spend the next morning at the ruins. We had no idea as to what to expect, so were pleased when we arrived at... More

This hotel is a great value for the price. Breakfast included, spacious rooms with AC and TV, plus two pools. It's about 2 miles from the archeological site (70 peso cab ride) and there is a cenote at the hotel across the street (get 5 pesos off tickets buying them at the front desk of Dolores Alba). The restaurant is... More

Convenient to the ruins, we stopped for lunch. Lots of other tourists sitting on the patio for outdoor dining. Strange place. Service wasn't great, food disappointing and poorly presented. Example: Hamburger was meat and a bun on a small salad plate. I cannot remember the exact price but it was quite expensive for what you got. A small plate of... More

Excellent location just 5 minutes from Chichen Itza means you can get there before the crowds but without a crack of dawn start! The roadside location was initially offputting, but there was little noise and none once the tour coaches had all left Chichen! Rooms are simple, but ckean, and two pools make it the best choice when visting Chicen.

Nice place, beside busy road but where isn't in Mexico, nice pool, helpful staff. One let down was organised transport to Chichen Itza, staff said free bus at 8.00 in morning. This was the reason we stayed here to be close to the site to beat the crowds. In morn we told bus at 8.30. Meanwhile there hotel bus went... More
