The four of us stayed here because it is close to the ruins and we had heard from friends it was truly excellent. The idea of staying in the same rooms that the archaeologists who unearthed Chichen Itza lived in was intriguing. The good news: Nice pool. Easy walk to Chichen Itza ruins. Sound and light show. Food when available... more

On a recent trip to Mexico we stayed at the Hacienda Chichen Itza in the Yucatan. It's a beautiful place - it seems true to the history of the site where the hacienda was used to house archaeologists exploring the ruins of Chichen Itza. The rooms are located in small houses scattered around the beautifully landscaped site - usually each... more

The hotel looks stunning with its historic grandeur and is conveniently located a couple of minutes walk from the East entrance to the ruins at Chichen Itza. The chalet rooms are clean and tidy and the air conditioning is a godsend after a hot march around the ruins. However, if like us you haven’t got here by car then you... more

The Hacienda and its' grounds are a real gem. A spectacular tropical garden envelops the individual cabins with hibiscus, plumeria and palms. Rooms are nicely furnished enhancing the character of the stay. The location is basically five minutes walking distance to the back entrance to Chichen Itza. They also arranged a knowledgeable guide to the ruins, who knew about the... more

Hacienda Chichen was wonderful....we loved it! Reading some of the mixed reviews my husband and I (celebrating our wedding anniversary) came with lowered expectations and were awed by the peace, tranquility and beauty of this property. This despite the fact that we learned (upon check in) that Chichen Itza had closed due to the swine flu epidemic which was obviously... more

My husband and I stayed at Hacienda Chichen for 2 nights on our honeymoon while we visited the Chichen Itza Ruins. The location can't be beat - we were able to walk to the ruins from the hotel (only about a 5 minute walk!). We had the hotel arrange a personal tour guide for us, and for $65, this was... more

We stayed here only for one night on our trip around Mexico. We used the pool which was very nice and kept very clean. . The grounds are beutifully laid out, & it seems as if you have your private path to your room. You can hear birds all around which adds to the tranquil atmosphere. Our room was the... more

Of the two hotels by the 'hotels' gate to Chichen Itza, this is much the nicest - the other is just a resort hotel which could be anywhere. Lovely grounds and main building, pretty good rooms in buildings dotted around the gardens, nice pool, good service (not amazing or obtrusive, just good and attentive when you need it), food typical... more

My wife and I stayed here on an impromptu trip to the Yucatan. Beautiful exotic location. The restaurant is awesome for breakfast before an active day exploring the ruins. When we went we could still climb the pyramid and even go inside to see where the jaguar throne was, I hear that's changed and its too bad because they were... more

I was traveling with my wife and my 14 month old daughter. We were vacationing in our time share in Cancun, but wanted to see Chichen Itza. We decided that traveling with our little one, and the fairly long drive from Cancun, (about 210 Km) that staying overnight would be more enjoyable. The drive from Cancun on the "cuota" or... more
