We just needed a clean, safe place to stay for one night before moving to another hotel on the strip and the Sotavento Hotel fit the bill. We arrived late in the evening, hungry after a long day of travelling and the hotel restaurant was closed. The front desk clerk suggested we walk about a block to the main road... More

Manuel at the front desk was friendly, helpful & spoke English. Free breakfast; FYI the french toast does NOT look appetizing but it's good (and if you don't like it the birds will eat it so watch your food at the outdoor tables.) After spending hours on Trip Adviser reading reviews we scheduled and paid by pay pal for a... More

We stayed here for nine days in January 2015, on our first trip to Mexico. If you are not looking for five star service at a three star price, this hotel is in a quiet area, includes continental breakfast, has a pool and is clean, which is what we were looking for. The reasonable cost helped us to afford activities... More

We stayed here at the beginning of our trip for one night and it was exactly as we needed after a long flight. Good size meals, great value and a nice range of bottled beers. We also came back at the end of our trip for 3 nights. It is further out of the main strip but I think this... More

Advice: Stay twice. Learn why this is such a good deal. The first time will leave you with Hotel Zone envy--and that'll cost you dearly and will limit your stay to tourguide tourists. Place is convenient. Ride bus (easy, cheap, convenient, frequent) Go to Playa Tortugas or Playa Delfines for beaches (though public beach access is law). Great sidewalk restaurants... More

A terrible experience to go there. The hotel is unexpensive, well located, and the rooms are ok for the price. But the overall experience is regrettable. We stayed 1 week, and when we were ready to pack, we discovered that the hotel personnel robbed us. A couple of days before we bought an expensive box of 2 téquilas along with... More

Let's be real here, there are definitely better hotels in Cancun than Sotavento. The location can be a bit frustrating to find, the wifi wasn't the best, breakfast was ok and it's far from the main drag. But if you're looking to save money in Cancun for cerveza and tequila then give it a shot. Rooms were big, the bed... More

I am giving this hotel a rating of 4 out of 5 based on price. Obviously it is not the same as staying at a 5 star all inclusive resort, but you shouldn't expect it to be. If you are an English only speaking American like me you need to be prepared for the fact that most employees speak no... More

Dear all. Me and my boyfriend stayed in this hotel one night before moving towards zona hoteliera but after whats happened after one hour of our stay put me in a really bad mood and upset us sooo much so we want to share our experience with you. Front desk staff one man in his maybe 50s came to us... More

I must say I was a little concerned when my cousin booked this room because of the recent reviews I read, but overall the place was not bad. Wifi is available but ONLY in the lobby, so if you MUST have wifi, this is not the place for you. We didn't have any issues with bugs in our room and... More
