Absolutely shocking hostel. We had a private room with A/C and shower. The light in there is so dark that there isn't even a point to have it switched on, not to mention the lock on the door was broken so we had to leave our valuables in the room with no locked door. The wall plug was pulled out... More

I stayed here 1 night and signed up for a second. What I really liked is the location in Cancun and that the dorms were air conditioned and also had some overhead fans. I had a great sleep as a result. Mattresses on bed were comfy and fairly new. Staff was very helpful and there is even breakfast included which... More

We checked a few hotels out when we arrived in Cancun and made the mistake to go for the cheapest. They quickly showed us the room and we had to pay directly when checking in. I always check for bedbugs after being bitten all over once in another hostel. When I pulled back the sheets, we found multiple bedbugs, dead... More

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere, shame about the bed bug infestation. Got eaten alive during our two night stay, literally bitten from head to toe! Also we paid for a "superior" cabin but was only given a "deluxe" room which was by no means deluxe. Cold shower/pipe coming out of wall, ac was more like a fan, no fridge or tv... More

We "stayed" in a private room here yesterday. It smelled like cat pee, but it was 20 pesos cheaper than the one next door so we took it anyways. That was a mistake. Before we got to bed we realized that the bed already was full - there were a dozen insects walking around on the pillows and on the... More

We arrived on a rainy day and were greeted by lethargic staff who didn't seem to care that we had arrived. They showed us to an outside room with sticks for walls. It was damp and smelt horrible. The bathroom was really dirty, the bed sheets had little bits of mud on them and the room was next to the... More

My friend and I moved to this hostel from another due to me finding a bed bug in my bed. Little did we know that this place was probably their nesting area. I felt things a crawling on me during the night and decided I was paranoid until my friend turned on the light to reveal all 5 beds in... More

I thoroughly detested my stay at the Mayan Hostel. My boyfriend and I had private room number six and it was horrible. There was this stink in the room - a smell like rotting fruit or durian or some other foul smell. It got into all our clothes, and even now two weeks later I smell it on my belongings.... More

We needed a one night stay here. Very pleased with it as a budget option - just across Road from bus station, free breakfast, nice food stalls five minutes away. Sure there are bugs and rooms are basic but staff friendly and pancakes for breakfast!
