The resort is very pretty. It's not directly in the central tourist zone, so there are not a lot of "spring breakers" running around. There are plenty of things to do for kids, teenagers, and young adults, with out having to feel out of place or overwhelmed. The bus ride to the tourist center us 5-20 minutes. This depends on... We stayed in Royal Mayan in the beginning of Jan 2014 and it seems now the hotel changed its name to Emporio Family suits. This is not exactly the hotel but the private club that offers some of its apartments as a hotel rooms. It's very well located - in very quiet area on a gorgeous beach - unbeatable for... More

Gorgeous property, beautiful views, clean pools, a beach to die for. The room was lovely with a large terrace, full kitchen, and a very comfortable bed. Maid service and wait staff were excellent. Food was truly outstanding. This was a wonderful property to visit and we would certainly return!

Wonderful as always and unfortunate that they are closing down. I am an owner and voted to keep it open, unfortunately we are losing the resort as it was and all the wonderful staff which was the best ever. Loved the people and the resort. It will be missed by everyone involved.

First I would say I am all about value and don't need the latest greatest bells and whistles in what I buy. The Royal Mayan gave me more than what I paid for. Rooms were clean and everything worked though I agree some of the room could use updating. The staff went out of their way for you and were... More

The hotel was nothing as it was advertised on their site. The room wasn't even what we paid for. We asked for a king bed and what we got was 2 twin beds and as a couple this was not ideal. They did not provide soap or shampoo or any the necessary cleaning supplies. Everything was really expensive for no... More

As a member of Royal Resorts, my wife and I were very disappointed at the service we received at the Royal Mayan. From the reception staff to the beach staff, they were rude along with a very disappointing service. For example, I went to the front desk to have a $20 bill changed into dollars so that I could tip... More

Beautiful beach! Big rooms ( one bedroom apartment ) but the showers were small and smelly - had a bad experience with my shower not working after a huge flight from Australia all you want is a shower and no one would fix it until the morning?! After calling reception and even walking down half asleep demanding it be fixed... More

Considering the Hotels along Blvd kukulkan are very expensive, the Royal Mayan is perfectly priced. My sister and I have just spent our vacation there on a room only basis. It worked out cheaper than an all inclusive package as the resort has 3 sister resorts you can Dine in. The restaurants were fairly priced too and we enjoyed delicious... More

We booked a "hotel room" online for our 4 night stay. It seemed to be a timeshare lock out unit but it was a great price and we really enjoyed having the small refrigerator and microwave-cooking some meals in saved a lot of money. Overall, we liked staying here but we are not sure it would be our first choice... More
