We are Royal Resort members and have been members at the Royal Islander since 1995. The grounds, maid service and maintenance are great. We always eat lunch at Cayo Lago, great service and food. The beach is in great shape.

Spent a week at Royal Islander as part of our time share exchange and it was great. Room was spacious and great view of the beach/sunrise. Room was serviced daily for free which we didn't get as part of any of our other exchanges. We chose this over some other options in Cancun as it wasn't all inclusive and a... More

We cut short our stay on Isla Holbox after 5 days and returned to Cancun, since we were flying out of there anyway. Having already spent one day we were loathe to return but we figured we could do day trips to Mujeres and Puerto Morelos. We booked a suite through hotels.com and after our budget accomodations on Holbox, this... More

Once a year, I meet my in-laws here for a well deserved vacation. My in-laws have a timeshare here, so we stay in the same room, same housekeeper, and same BEAUTIFUL view. The people are always super nice and willing to make your stay absolutely perfect. We always have a 2 bedroom villa with a full kitchen. We eat breakfast... More

I really have no strong complaints about our stay here, except to compare it to other beach-front resorts I've stayed in which were far nicer (which I know isn't really fair!). My husband and I exchanged our timeshare unit to stay here in early January. We had a small room (not one of the kitchen suites), which seemed to get... More

Was a very nice place, however, management needs to rethink its policy on smoking cigars on the pool deck. There were a group of inconsiderate people (male and female alike if that tells you anything about the group) that smoked cigars daily by the poolside. While this is not acceptable in my opinion, what makes it worse is they parked... More

Stayed here for a stopover between mexican town visits after arriving from Australia. Only spent two nights but our rom was not made in between nights. Got food poisoning from the restaurant. Probably luck of the draw eating anywhere in Mexico. Hotel itself is nice, beds are comfortable. Food tasted nice (aftermath was not) Plenty of other options in Cancun... More

Due to cancelled flight (snow) stated here for 1 night. Beautiful view, cheerful bright rooms, great pool, beautiful beach! Really wish I could have stayed longer. Only got to try the breakfast buffet which was awesome. Be sure to include it in the price of your room! The restaurants look good. Wish I could have experienced them. All in all,... More

Just left this resort! I had a great time. Every room has an ocean view! The staff is always ready to assist you. There is a market right in the resort and fairly well priced. The pool was great. Restaurants were fine. You can go to the other Royal resorts in Cancun and still use your room card. One being... More

It was very disappointing and will never return there again. The service was horrible and was constantly asked for ID Key to prove we even stayed at the resort. The only thing I can say was the beaches were beautiful and warm. This hotel/staff was Not What I Expected!!!
