Hotel had some issues (changed 1st room because AC didn't work correctly, cold shower until we complained, door lock broke, but got fixed). Oh, the beds are very hard. The Casa Maya rooms are undergoing a major facelift and are being 'gutted" down to jack-hammering the tile floors. If you are making arrangements to stay within the next few months, be sure you are given accomodations as far from the current work floors as possible. That said, we did enjoy our stay. We are staying at this resort in early Dec of '09. We do not want to use a credit card while in Mexico. Is it best to bring American money or exchange for Mexican once we are at the resort? We will be eating both at the resort and also outside of it. If we have a cheat list of... more

We stayed at Casa Maya, as this is our home-base in a time share we purchased about 6 yrs ago. We simply LOVE Cancun. While the rooms have not been updated in many years, the service and features of Casa Maya made this a great place for my family. My husband & I stayed at the Casa Maya for 1 night even though we were booked for 7. There was huge pressure for a timeshare presentation. The room was in the tower which is 28 years old and I'm pretty sure it hasn't been renovated. No one told us that there had been a fire at the hotel so... more

My husband and I spent our honeymoon in this hotel and we really enjoy our stay there. The people in the hotel are super extra nice and it is my favorite beach in cancun since it is relaxing and there are no many wave so you can lay down in the beach and enjoy the weather and some margaritas! more

Spent 10 days in Mexico - 2 nights at Casa Maya. I used cash everywhere I went (including the hotel we stayed at in Playa del Carmen, which was reserved with an American Express. When we arrived at Casa Maya, I said I wanted to pay cash for the room, but they needed a credit card for incidentals. No problem... more
