Most travelers do not realize that the property has an independent hotel operation that includes less than half of the rooms. The private owners have beautiful remodeled rooms and a rental pool separate from the Hotel. Well equipped room that are beautifully upgraded. The hotel restaurant and front desk are run by the Hotel not the rental pools nor owners.... More

We booked a room here and had an very bad experience. Rose Van Dee had surgery on her knee and couldn't walk up 3 flights of stairs. I went up to the front desk where manager Julio waved me off when I first asked him to fix the elevator that wasn't working. So I went downstairs and waited another 15... More

After reading some of the reviews here, we gave this hotel a chance thinking surely it couldn't be that bad? We were so wrong and this has really ruined our holiday.. On arrival we were shown to our room by a very nice man who carried our luggage (although he waited for a tip, like he was expecting one) we... More

I read the previous reviews and I honestly thought that they were exaggerated or that the reviewers were just hard to please, not the case. The best thing about this hotel is the view and the beach, everything else is a total bust. It rained every night and the hallways would have a mini flood, I had a HORRIBLE sewer... More

Room I stayed was a suite with master bedroom and living room with no door between the two. Light fixtures were hanging out the ceiling with live wires showing in the bathroom. The AC drips water on your head while you are on the toilet.. Other then that the staff is nice.

I first started visiting the Cancun area in 1992, and have made over 30 trips.....never could I imagine seeing a hotel so dated......There was steep stairs everywhere, and so many of them that you have to be very fit....there is no wheelchair access, luggage ramps, or stroller ramps. Elevator in between floors with only stairs again. Air conditioner did not... More

So, based on some reviews I read here, I thought it was going to a bad experience, but I was so wrong. We arrived at the hotel about 4 hours early, and instead of making us wait, they got a room for us early, no extra charge. Everyone working at the hotel was very nice. The air conditioning was always... More

After spending a week at a vacation rental in Tulum, my family spent a night at Solymar before going home. We had a "penthouse", which is a suite -- one room with a kitchenette and a balcony facing the ocean, one room facing the bay, and access to a rooftop patio facing the bay. The views were great everywhere. The... More
