This hotel is very convenient for people who want to visit the archeological sites the region offers (mainly Becan, Chicanna, Hormiguero and Xpujil.) The grounds are beautiful, the people who work there are good natured and helpful, and the rooms are spacious and clean. more

Dirty rooms, bad food, lousy service, no water on one day, and no hot water the next. Despite a confirmed reservation, they bumped us out without notice. There is a better choice in this remote area - the nearby Hotel Deblitz which is newer with much better rooms. more

We used the Chicanna Eco Village as our home base while visiting the ruins in the Rio Bec region. We found the hotel to be in a very beautiful setting with all the comforts you could expect for such a remote area. There was no air conditioning, but the ceiling fan provided plenty of "aire fresco" once the sun went... more

You have to give the hotel a lot of credit for having such a good service and great meals, while being in the middle of the jungle. The staff is very friendly and service oriented. Always ready to help ie: we got box-lunches ready at 5:30am and fresh coffee / the next day, while bird-watching (great by the way) in... more

Several months ago I made a reservation for this hotel and prepaid in cash through a travel agency in Merida. I was looking forward to a very unstressful evening (as we had also prepaid for dinner). However when we checked in we were told they gave away our room to a tour group, but that we could take our meals... more

The rooms are fine here - no air conditioning but with cross ventilation it is not really needed. This is NOT a resort; the only activity available is the swimming pool. The staff are not knowledgeable about nearby Maya ruins; the person I talked to at the reception desk had never seen Hormiguero, and could tell me nothing about getting... more

Not cheap, but an excelent balance between "jungle jim" and confort, rooms and instalations are very good, specially if you consider the location in the middle of the jungle, very clean, nice people, good service, and close to many interesting places, like Chicaná, Becam, Calakmul, Xpujil, etc. You can spot local fauna near the hotel, like spider monekeys, Howling monkeys,... more

Chicanna Village Resort is a very nice hotel specially for it´s location: in the middle of nowhere, but surrounded by mayan ruins and the beutiful jungle. Rooms is expensive, and food is even more expensive; that´s easy to understand if you reealize where the hotel is located. more

Of the places we saw within a fifty mile radius of Chicanna, this was the best (puerta calakmul was next best and one hotel in Xpujil looked acceptable), and most expensive. The rooms were large and clean. The (non-dinner) service was excellent. The hotel is isolated and the grounds are nice with a small, clean pool. The "eco" part though... more
