We used the Chicanna Eco Village as our home base while visiting the ruins in the Rio Bec region. You have to give the hotel a lot of credit for having such a good service and great meals, while being in the middle of the jungle. The staff is very friendly and service oriented. The rooms are fine here - no air conditioning but with cross ventilation it is not really needed. This is NOT a resort; the only activity available is the swimming pool. Chicanna Village Resort is a very nice hotel specially for it´s location: in the middle of nowhere, but surrounded by mayan ruins and the beutiful jungle. Rooms is expensive, and food is even more expensive; that´s easy to understand if you reealize where the hotel is located. more

Of the places we saw within a fifty mile radius of Chicanna, this was the best (puerta calakmul was next best and one hotel in Xpujil looked acceptable), and most expensive.
