We stayed at the Oriente for a couple of nights in December (after following a recommendation in the Lonely Planet).

The location is really good (just across from the Zocalo and a short walk from the waterfront). The staff were very friendly.

Unfortunately, the room was a terrible. We were given a room right next to the elevator. When I asked for a different room, we were told that no other rooms were available (although the hotel looked fairly empty). In addition to this the noise from the busy intersection was unbearable (even with the windows closed).

We won't be staying at this hotel again. more
