I have been in Veracruz three times, I have tried 3 hotels in the city. This has been for far , the very best of all of them. Nice location infront of the malecon, walking distance from the "Parroquia" Traditional Coffe. Wide room, all the services available, nice bathroom, with a working air conditioner. Nice loby, nice pool and a... more

Veracruz is a town with good music, delicious food and kind people. It's not Cancun or Baja, but it has what Baja or Cancun lack: a Mexican soul! Having said that, Emporio is a good hotel to discover this city. I don't think is the number 1 option (Boca del Rio has better hotels, and Boca is still Veracruz!), but... more

This hotel was located right on the water where there was a nice boardwalk and some interesting views of shipping docks and cranes. The hotel seemed to have been partially renovated, with some nice public areas. The room we had was old, but everything worked and we had a balcony with a view of the water. We ate both breakfast... more

i was looking forward to staying here after reading the glowing reviews, so was surprised to find the hotel was being renovated when we got there. when i say renovated, i mean GUTTED, the top 4 floors were completely empty, chiseled down to concrete, no doors, no windows. the constuction caused noise, dust, water cascading down onto our balcony, and... more

For M$ 1444 I got a single with a king size bed. The furniture and decor needed cleaning / updating and my view was of generic rooftops. Skip breakfast and lunch at the restaurant but dinner was fantastic: Superb view, great service, wonderful food (ask for fish recommendations). Bathroom was clean and adequate with a supply line of purified water.... more

What nobody told us was what a disgusting, dirty, hot, smelly, rude town Veracruz was. The only good thing about our 3 night stay there was the lovely Emporio. If you must go to Veracruz, definitely stay here. The price was listed as $160 a night for a standard room, but we got it for $80. Definitely get a harbor-side... more

I was at the Emporio Hotel over a period of 6 days at the end of February 2006. The hotel is a great place to stay with spotless interior, polished marble floors, crisp uniformed and friendly staff and clean rooms. The bathrooms had extra heavy towels and excellent amenities such as aromatherapy soaps, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. The food in... more

Hi! My husband and I just returned from a week in Veracruz. We spent 3 nights at the Hotel Emporio downtown and 3 nights at the Camino Real on the beach. The Hotel Emporio is wonderful! Yes, it may be old but that is why we chose it: it has atmosphere and history. We had a kingsize bed as requested,... more

I have been, many times, to Hotel Emporio just to chill. The hotel has excellent service, great views, and reasonable rates. Best of all is Emporio's fantastic restaurant - especially the Sea Bass Veracruzana. Easy access to all of Veracruz and many countryside tours. I'm returning in September for another two weeks of relaxation. more
