Sad place - nothing seems to have changed since 1960s or so, apart from some wall paining. Very, very expensive for the standard it offers compared to every othe place we visited in Mexico. Continental breakfast includes toast bread and jam and coffee, a bit limited choice. Where's the butter and O.J.? On a positive side - a good location,... More

I stayed with my two brothers at Hotel Colonial. Check in time was 1:00pm. We had to wait till 3:00pm to get our room because the maid service were still doing their rounds. We asked the front desk if we can check our bags in and come back until our room was ready and they said no. Finally I asked... More

What an awful surprise. Even though its an old hotel it could have been well kept. . VERY DARK AND NEEDS URGENT RENOVATION. Counter staff not prepared to do anything, only the bellboy. They are unprofessional. Not worth the price . Look elsewhere ! There are many hotels avaialble.. AWFUL EXPERIENCE. We arrived at night and were pushing our luggage thru... More

For 650pesos we were were expecting something better as this is a lot for a hotel in Mexico. I've read other reviews here and can only think our room was one of the worst! Parking is extra at the hotel although massively discounted. Our room was VERY noisey and i'm NOT talking noise from the square. There was no exterior... More

Veracruz is all about history, music, heat, humidity, and noise. We stayed at the Colonial and got one of the rooms with a balcony overlooking the Plaza de Armas. From our balcony we could see the ancient cathedral, and the famous zocolo was directly below. Every night a thunderstorm cleaned the streets, and the mornings greeted us with the sound... More

Stayed at the Colonial for a week while visitin Veracruz. This hotel is an excellent price for what you get. I was really impressed at the character of this hotel. Granted, it's a bit older but the condition is great and overall pretty spacious. Location: Centrally located in Veracruz on the Zocalo. Here you will find restaurants, bars, an old... More

This hotel was booked by Pronatura Veracruz as part of an excellent birdwatching trip. I stayed here on my last night before an early morning flight. The best thing about the hotel is the location, on the zócalo which has a wonderfully festive nightlife scene. The crowded sidewalk restaurants recall the night scene in plazas in Madrid. Lots of jarocho... More

This hotel is located at the main plaza of Veracruz. The whole building looks like a reminder of the 80s and the room we had was very small, without any flair and very noisy due to the loud air-co. I cannot recommend this hotel.

Stayed in room 444 in the new section. Cost me $70 for my wife and I. It was Christmas time. Room was nice and comfy and quiet as it was away from the zocalo noise. Location cannot be beat as it was right on the main square and had a great terrace to hang out and look down at the... More
