The only thing that tempts me to award more than 3 stars is location, location, location. You will walk from the front door onto the oldest plaza in Mexico, where "alegre" may as well have been defined. I was in Colonial for my first Veracruz night more than 20 years ago, and I have returned various times with family, friends,... More

Firstable I have to thank the hotel Staff for taking care of a valuable forgotten asset I forgot at the lobby. The staff took care of it and returned it undamaged. They were really nice and were originally concerned of me getting my stuff back. Thank you guys! Your honesty makes a difference! The hotel is near "El malecón" 5... More

No hotel is more central (right on the town square / "Zocalo"), so a few minutes' walk gets you almost anywhere you'd want to be. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean (and mine was very quiet), though not everyone well enjoy the very firm beds. There's a small pool on the 2nd floor and no in-house restaurant (try Sanborn's on... On our way through Mexico we stopped in Veracruz for two nights. Because of its perfect location, we chose the Hotel Colonial. From the feedback here we knew it's kinda of a mixed bag. But we took our chance anyway. In the end we were pleasantly surprised. Check-In was friendy and the front desk guy (forgot his name - younger... More

This hotel is in a good location however it knew better days. the service is not the best and the whole hotel is not so clean. i do not think it is good value for money. the only advantage of this hotel is it´s location. Right on the socalo. sorrounded by many cafes and restaurants.

Walking into this hotel feels like entering another era. And there are both good and bad things that come with that. The good: if you are into vintage design, you will probably really enjoy the 1970s vibe preserved in aspects like the lobby, tile work and other little details throughout the hotel. The bad: both the internet and hot water... More

Sad place - nothing seems to have changed since 1960s or so, apart from some wall paining. Very, very expensive for the standard it offers compared to every othe place we visited in Mexico. Continental breakfast includes toast bread and jam and coffee, a bit limited choice. Where's the butter and O.J.? On a positive side - a good location,... More
