Despite its name, Las Villas de Margarita Centro is hardly in the center of Xalapa. It is nearly a mile down a very steep hill (and even steeper coming back up) to the central area of the city, Parque Juaez. This is the hotel´s chief drawback it is in a somewhat depressed area and there are few shops and restaurants of note within walking distance.
The hotel itself is a well-restored colonial building with outstanding tile work throughout. The rooms are comfortable and the hotel has wireless internet access. There is a small restaurant with nondescript fare.
The hotel is reasonably priced.
