I have harbored a wish to have my own B&B one day for many years. If I ever do, Bela will be my role model. With an incredibly relaxed and warm, knowledgable personality she runs her beautiful business to perfection. She has thought of EVERYTHING for the comfort of her guests and I felt totally at home. The communal breakfasts... More

We arrived at on Christmas Eve - tired and cold and were welcomed into the oasis that is Bela's. A stunning garden courtyard, lovely furnishings, electric blankets, the most comfortable bed that we've had in Mexico, not to mention a beautiful vista over the rooftops out to the mountains from our upstairs room. Bela is warm and welcoming - even... More

This was our second time at Bela's. We love staying here. She is a fine host, whom truly cares about your experience. Bela places great care to fine details. We are looking forward to return. We stayed at the uppermost room, with a terrace that overlooks the city. The location is very convenient and you can walk from here to... More

Stayed at Bella's for a second time and I think it is still a wonderful unique experience. You can believe the other excellent reviews and reviewers and their positive details about their stay. This trip I stayed in one of the two smaller cabin rooms with a shared bath. My traveling academic colleague had the other. As this was his... More

Bela has a beautiful house and especially garden, with many interesting people as your fellow guests. She had her staff (a whole Mayan family, of 3 generations) make us a wonderful Mayan Thanksgiving comida, with chicken mole (a special Mayan kind) and sopa de pan (the Mayan specialty of soup with bread and vegetables). Her doggies (four) add even more... More

We felt right at home at Bela's. I highly recommend this beloved bohemian respite. The gardens are lovingly cared for....our room was perfect with a delightful view...the breakfasts were divine...we had two delicious lunches cooked for us and of course, there is Bela herself...a Hostess Supreme...she greeted us with warmth and continued to care for us during our seven day... Staying at Bela's for a week was truly one of the best experiences I have ever had traveling. Her place is beautiful and every need has been anticipated from robes in the cupboard to towel warmers in the room. Our room had a private balcony where we watched the sun set over the hills and drank our morning coffee, but... More

I don't know how to start as everything was wonderful. The location, the people, the gardens, the rooms, the comfort etc. were all better than any other B&B that I have visited. San Cristobal is a wonderful place to visit and Bela has lived there more than 20 yrs so she is a great resource. She is on site and... More

The minute Bela and her dogs answered the door and said hello, I immediately felt as if I was visiting a friend rather than simply staying in travel lodging. Her gorgeous courtyard garden is one of the prettiest places I've ever seen. Sitting in the sunroom/breakfast room or outdoors, you can enjoy the enormous collection of plants and flowers with... I found staying with Bela at her perfectly located and beautiful B&B enhanced my entire visit to San Cristobal de las Casas....her place is in perfect harmony with the unpretentious and informed atmosphere of the town. Aside from being just a half block from the largest and most seductive craft market there, you are within a short walk to everything... More
