I think this place had won Mexico’s best hostel a few years in a row and it deserves to be known as nothing less! This place is a little garden of joy - cozy lounge with a fireplace for cold San Cristóbal nights, super comfortable beds in both dorm rooms that are saddled with two or three heavy wool blankets.... We really liked the posada del abuelito. The personel was really friendly, breakfast was good and the place looked nice. Via the hostel you can book good and cheap trips, we liked the mountainbike trip with one of our hosts. He took us to some caves and other interesting sights.

Step through the gates from the quiet sidestreet of San Cristobal and taste a little piece of superchilled chiapas chocolate pie... and i love chiapas, chocolate and pie. Alot. Among the best hostel kitchens i've ever cooked in, lovely courtyards, a fireplace for chilly highlands evenings, close but not too close to the hotspots of the city, rooms cleaned and... More

Maybe I had the fortune of arriving in a special time, but the ambience of all the guests and the immediate welcoming I got upon my arrival really made this one of my favourite hostels. Both the owners and the travellers felt like family and I recommend people this place all the time for that. The bathrooms are clean and... More

Thank you for a great review. We like the hostel accommodates people of all ages and styles that want to come and enjoy San Cristobal in a calm, pleasant environment since we are not a party hostel. Usually there is always a very good ambiance due to this unique mix of travelers that stay with us which is really special.... More

I only stayed here for two nights and the girls dorm is where you want to be as a female: an amazing ensuite bathroom and good beds. The mixed dorm is good too, though a little bit small for so many beds. The staff is very friendly and helpful although I though the tours that they offered were good but... More

We stayed here for 3 nights (wanted to stay more but was fully booked). 2 of our 4 person gropu stayed in a dorm and 2 of us stayed in a private room without a toilet. We were very happy about the location of the hostel and about the hostel itself. It was very clean, super relaxed and had a... More

Overall an okay visit but there just seem to be many more hostel abut that are in better shape and with rooms that are not as dated-dark. Staff- Simon great, Marco good, woman with attitude not so much.

We stayed for five nights in a private room, shared bathroom. The room was spacious, really comfortable bed, and clean, and the showers had hot water at any time of day. For us the highlight of our staff was the excursions organized by the staff here. We went to visit two indigenous villages, which was really informative. Simon arranged for... More

A lovely place, highly recommended. I stayed there for 3 nights and enjoyed the space very much. Its very well located so you can pop 'home' regularly. Its got a great ktchen and is very well run and looked after. It did not seem like much of a sociable place, but I suppose this depends on the people who are... More

Two quaint interior courtyards, a chill out room with a fireplace, great new kitchen, hammocks (comfortable well proportioned, swing nicely, good weave) small private rooms, but not without character. Abundant bathrooms, so you never have to wait around to do your morning bathroom routine. A practically all French staff sometimes gives you the feeling that you are in some laid... More
