I'm not sure if it was because the owners were away & someone was minding this hostel but we (a couple) didn't have the greatest experience here, however the staff were nice enough. We arrived after check-in and were told clean sheets were on their way.. They didn't arrive until 9pm (we were so tired from a 19hr bus ride!)... More

Planned to stay 2 nights but ended up staying for 5 nights. Great place, I felt home directly when the owner offered me a beer:). Breakfast is pretty good and beds were nice. It's a small hostel but I consider it the most cozy hostel in Mexico!

First, Erick is the nicest person ever. He is very helpful, friendly, and will go out of his way to arrange things for you. We got both private rooms and the dorm. The rooms are comfortable, what you would expect from a hostel. The shower is VERY hot, and the internet is one of the fastest we got in hostels.... More

An absolutely comfortable, clean and welcoming hostel! We received a lot of help and could only be thankful to what seemed so normal. I would recommend this place to everyone coming to San Cristobal. Thanks guys for a great Mexican hostel experience.

This lovely hostel has an amazing vibe to it! The room might not be of the newest standard, but the people working there make you feel extremely comfortable. I've never felt so safe and at home at any other hostel i stayed in. The kitchen is really organized and functional, nice shower and bathroom and comfortable beds. But it's not... More

NB: !!!!!!!!!!THEY HAVE REALLY HOT SHOWERS!!!!!! "So, you wanna cook up a huge paella tonight?" This bald old Australian dude is asking me out of the blue (Also his name). Hell Yeah I do! And so we proceeded to cook the most amazing paella known to man. We ate it as a family dinner, with the people living and working... More

I found this hostel through word of mouth and saw that it had a good review online. I stayed for 3 nights and loved it! The ambience was great, staff helpful, and lots of fun. I met lots of travelers and some local Mexicans as well. The location is perfectly placed 1 block from the biggest food market and 3... More

Its been 12 hours since I left the hostel and I already miss it. I checked in to a place in Guatemala with two others I met in Akumal (the place naturally attracts chillers) and we all are immediately reminiscing on what was the best part of our individual trips. A perfect compliment to a brilliant town; atmosphere, service, location... More

My husband and I stayed at Hostal Akumal for 10 days as we liked San Cristobal very much and were comfortable at the hostal. We had the private room, that opened out to the roof top terrace. The terrace had hammocks and while evenings can be colder, there is early morning sun on the terrace which was so enjoyable. I... More
